Aylin's POV
"Hi baby sis." I greet Luna when she finally answers the FaceTime call.
She glances at the screen briefly, then buries her face in the pillow when she sees me.
"What time's it there?"
"Midnight." I respond, watching Naija stumble over the bottle we finished, but quickly rebalances herself as to not spill her wine on my new white rug.
"Sorry." She mouthes to me, walking on her heels since her toenails are still wet.
"What time is your exam?" I ask.
"At nine."
"Isn't it seven there?"
"Yeah?" She turns over, hair messy and eyes barely open, "So?"
"You can't get there late."
"God..." she yawns, "Why are you so annoying?"
I smile slightly, "I just don't want you to oversleep. And I wanted to wish you luck today. My little independent child."
She gives me a look, "Are you drunk? Again?"
"A little." I lay back, "I love you."
"Yeah, yeah. If I fail today, blame your boyfriend."
Well, that's one way to sober me up.
"What happened?"
"He was supposed to drive with me yesterday, but he flaked."
"What?" I frown. I hate that he's ruining my buzz, "Why?"
"Something about an appointment."
It's none of your business. It's none of your business.
"Oh." I shake my head, "Have you been going with an actual instructor though?"
"Only a few lessons."
I try not to wince in front of her, but I no longer feel confident that she'll pass. I hope she does, but she was scraping the rim not too long ago. Hopefully she's made lots of progress since I left.
"Fingers crossed." I cross my fingers, "Call me when you're done. I don't care if I'm asleep."
"That's if I pass."
"You will! Good luck."
She sighs, "I'll get up now. Bye."
"Love you."
"I know." She hangs up.
"Your sister's funny." Naija speaks up.
"I hope she passes." I finish the rest of my drink, "She's a bit of a clumsy driver."
Naija unpauses our music video playlist and lowers the volume, "Is that why you just gulped your wine like that?" She jokes, "Have some confidence in her."
"No, it's not just that." I grab a glass of water. I'm going to need to flush my system after tonight, "She said Zayn's been—"
"We're saying his name now?" She questions me with wide eyes.
I smile slightly, "She said he flaked on her yesterday, which is really unlike him."
Naija shakes her head, "He's probably switching up now because of the break up. Men."
"He wouldn't do that to Luna." I look up at her, "She also said he had an appointment."
She raises a brow at me, as if what I'm saying is ridiculous.
