CHAPTER SIX

(Still at the school)

Salome: What is the matter? Why are you making this type of face?

Clara: Nothing dear (Fakes a smile) am fine.

Salome: It better be because I don't understand again.

Clara: (Trying to cover up and make her believe that everything is alright) won't you introduce me to your handsome brother or will you just stand there and be asking me questions?

Salome: (Smiles) forgive my manners. Well... Clara meet my elder brother Alvin, Alvin meets my very good friend Clara.

Alvin (Pretends to be surprised) Wow... is this the Clara you were talking about?

Salome: Yes she is the one.

(Alvin and Clara shakes hands and Clara gave him a discouraging look but Salome didn't notice)

Alvin: Nice to meet you, Clara.

Clara: Nice to meet you too.

Salome: Please let us get going, we will talk more in the car. I am very hungry.

Clara: I don't think I can come with you.

Salome: (Confused) why?

Clara: I just remembered that I have to help my mother out with something.

Salome: I don't understand, you were looking excited just a few minutes ago and you never said anything about helping your mother when I told you about going to my house with me.

Clara: Am so sorry dear, maybe some other time. Honestly, I want to know your house, believe me, I do but I just have to get home now. (In her mind *how do I tell my very good friend that her brother is the person I told her that have been trying to sleep with me?*)

Alvin: Please sister, can we get going? I believe she has her reasons

Clara: Please dear listen to your brother. I promise to make it up to you.

Salome: Ok. If you insist. I can't force you but know that am not happy with you.

Clara: I know and I am sorry. Please forgive me

Salome: Ok then. See you in school tomorrow. Bye...

(Salome enters the car with his brother and they drove off almost immediately. Clara waited for like 2 minutes before she could board a bus to her house. On the way home Salome asked her brother)

Salome: I have this feeling that my friend is lying to me. Do you think she is telling the truth?

Alvin: Well she is your friend and you should know her better than I do. Besides, I just met her for the first time today. But I believe she might be telling the truth. What reason could she have had to lie for you?

Salome: I have never felt this way towards her before.

Alvin: My dear sister, don't worry yourself. You are just feeling this way because you wanted her to come with us and she refused.

Salome: You think so?

Alvin: Yes dear. But I believe she will still come around.

Salome: Please can you stop and get me some snacks, I am very hungry.

(Alvin stops to get her some snacks and they continued the journey)

(Clara on her part wasn't comfortable. She was busy thinking of what to do about the situation she finds herself in)

Clara: (Talking to herself while lying down on the bed) what am I going to do about this? Should I just make up an excuse and turn down her request? But if I do that, it may affect our friendship and she may become suspicious and if I tell her the truth about her brother, it may cause a quarrel between them. Besides, my mother and I needs their assistance and if I tell my mother then it is over because she won't even allow me to think it twice about not going. (Crying) Oh God please come and tell me what to do, I am very confused. Lord, you know what I have already passed through in the hands of Alvin. Lord please come and save me from the dilemma. If I go to that house, it will be rough for me. (She was still thinking and crying on her bed when she slept off and the light fades.)
