Chapter 19

Howie was currently sitting on his bed, bumping his leg up and down. Big Red's class ended in only a few minutes, and Howie and Kourtney's date was in an hour. And he was scared. So he sat, waiting and waiting (actually, it was about 4 minutes in total).

Big Red then showed up, setting down his things. "Hey."

"Finally!" Howie exclaimed, making his way over.

"I literally just got out of class, what do you— oh, you and Kourtney's thing is tonight, isn't it?"

"Yeah, exactly." He confirmed. "Advice?"

"Dude, I don't know, Ash and I were literally head over heals just talking about our date. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was terrified. But I felt fine basically right after I got there. Things seemed like they were gonna work."

"I really hope things work."

"You seem so head over heals, how did I not know?" Big Red laughed lightly.

"I kept it to myself. I never flirted. I was nervous."

"Well, she's gonna enjoy the time. Nothing too bad can happen. Kourtney's Kourtney, even if it were to go bad—"

"Thanks?"

"I'm just saying, she won't let things get to awkward with everyone else. She speaks her mind. Also, you should find out pretty quickly if you're gonna be a couple." The redhead assured his roommate.

"Okay, but, like... I'm just super nervous."

"You've got this."

"You doing anything tonight?"

"I think I'm hanging with Ash, she seems a bit nervous about auditions since the cast list comes out Friday... plus it's fun." Big Red added with a shrug.

"Have fun."

"Yeah, you too. It's gonna be great. Look, she didn't feel it I guess, but everyone thought there was something between you."

"Oh... really?" Howie asked.

"Yeah." He got a text. "Oh, I'm going now... unless you need anything else?"

"I'm good." It was a lie, he was still nervous, but he didn't need any more help. "You go."

"Okay, see ya later. Good luck. You don't even need it." Big Red left to Ashlyn and Kourtney's apartment. Inside, before he arrived, the two girls were talking.

"I'm so excited for you guys." Ashlyn gushed as if it was her own date.

"Ash, I think you're projecting considering who fun your first date was." Kourtney shook her head, laughing, as she put on earrings.

"But yours is gonna be great too!"

"I'm hopeful, yes."

"The way he looks at you..." Ashlyn mumbled.

"I don't notice it."

"Well it's so dreamy."

"We'll have to see how we mesh as a couple. It's just a first date."

"Oh, come on, you want it to be more." Ashlyn said.

"I do. I wouldn't go on the date otherwise." Kourtney confirmed.

"Well good luck, have a good time Kourt."

"You too, you and Big Red gonna be here?"

"Yeah, probably for awhile." She smiled, the blossoming romance still causing butterflies in her stomach. Kourtney easily noticed.
