'You have to sleep with an eye open'

She spent half of her break either in the library or in her own room. Last week Bellatrix took her to get her measurements for the latest collections that arrived in England. Soon her wardrobe was filled with new designs.

Christmas eve was nearing soon and she was getting more and more nervous for that day. It is not something that she has trouble handling but still her nerves got the best of her.

A small head poked through her bedroom door and spoke"Mistress Lestrange wants you to come have dinner with them Miss."

"Sure." She mumbled and went towards the informal dinning hall.

They were eating their dinner in silence when Rodolphus asked "What are you doing this days in the manor Kelsie?"

"Nothing much. Just in the library reading about the dark arts and all." She shrugged lightly.

He chuckled "Good. At least you are not wasting your precious time."

"Yes of course." She faked a polite smile.

"I want you to behave tomorrow and interact with as many people as possible in the party. And try to keep an eye on your surrounding." He said.

"Why's that?" She asked, suddenly intrigued.

"All the attendees are not the supporters of Dark Lord. There are going to be some neutral families as well. We can never be sure about them." He said with a frown.

Kelsie perked up at that. Neutral families were the best option for allies. If she could trade right then she will be able to impress them and use that later for political use or wherever she would need.

"Yes. I understand. I will keep an eye out." She said as she took the last sip of her wine.

Drinking wine was always seen as a graceful thing for the women in the pureblood community, it didn't mattered if they were of not drinking age yet.

"It's important Kelsie. He is rising in power and soon will rule the wizarding world. It's time that you start taking things seriously." He said in a low voice.

"I know Rodolphus and I understand what is at stake. Just because I pretend to not notice doesn't mean that I don't. I know what is out there and how one mistake can cost us our life." She said with a glare and stood up to leave.

"You ungrateful brat, cruc-" Rodulphus started cursing but Bellatrix cut him off.

"You don't want scars on her for tomorrow's event. It won't make a good impression." She hissed at him.

"They will know that I was showing her the rules. Nothing extraordinary." He growled back.

"It might not be ordinary for your friends but it will be for the neutral families and if they turn against you then it won't be pretty Rodolphus." Kelsie spoke as her glare towards him intensified.

"Trry to control your words young lady." He hissed at her and left the room.

"Try to talk less Kel." She sighed rubbing her temples.

"I know Bella and I always try but he gets on my nerves sometime." She said and went back to her room to sleep the night off.

The next morning she woke up with someone shaking her "What do you want?" She muttered sleepily.
