4. They've Missed It

There's nothing better but to be in ALO and lie under a tree on a very good day.

I logged in earlier than usual today because Asuna and I discussed meeting on the usual island, north of Panareze. I had my legs crossed and my arms behind my head. I had my eyes closed and a smile plastered on my face.

Asuna... it's been a month since the day she and I became friends. I actually never expected to be friends with Asuna. She's famous both at school and in this game, ALO. Still, though, I didn't regret staying on that rooftop.

Asuna and I mostly spent our time together. In school, we would always be partners when we're required to work in pairs. During the break, we would eat together up on the rooftop. I always ask her to eat in the cafeteria during lunchtime but she said she isn't that hungry. I don't know why she doesn't want to even if sometimes, I hear her stomach rumbling. I never asked her and she didn't tell me so, I guess I left it that way. Nevertheless, I buy us snacks and eat on the rooftop even if she says she's fine.  And after classes, Asuna and I meet here in ALO.

That's basically how our day goes.

"Enjoying the day, huh?"

My eyes opened and saw my only undine friend standing before me. She had her hands on her waist and Yui was on her shoulder. I sighed and closed my eyes again.

P/N: I am indeed enjoying this wonderful day,"

My smile dropped as I sighed deeply.

P/N: But... it's too bright. This is why I only come here past 4,"

I sighed and tried to pout.

Asuna: Just get up already, P/N. We still have a competition today.

I opened an eye.

P/N: Competition...?

Don't tell me...

Asuna: Cooking competition.

Ah, so it does have something to do with that. Ever since I bragged about my cooking skills, Asuna kept suggesting to compete with me and find out the truth.

P/N: What about it?

I asked as if I've turned dumb. I heard Asuna laugh and then shuffling sounds followed. I slowly opened my eyes and now found Asuna sitting beside me.

Asuna: So, just a month ago, you've been bragging about your cooking skills and now, you're backing out?

She asked while stifling a laugh.

P/N: It's not like that, Asuna. I just don't want you to feel embarrassed after your defeat.

Asuna: Over-confident, are you? Well then, come on! Let's do it.

To be honest, I wanted to accept her offer but... it was fun teasing her. A thought suddenly came into mind. I immediately sat up, my smile growing bigger.

P/N: Hey, why don't we travel around the Slyph territory for a while? They serve good food there.

Asuna: Why?

P/N: Well, to cook the best food, we need inspiration, right?

Asuna tilted her head curiously.

P/N: Kinda made my tradition to walk around the cities, to travel before cooking.

Asuna: That's a... weird tradition

She commented and chuckle along with Yui. I got up with a groan and dusted my clothes. I stretched my arms upward and then looked down at Asuna to offer a hand.
