__________
The Lycan

Standing at the edge of the forest, letting her eyes linger on the vampires form. Something was different about her, she smelled of sage and lavender. The smell was almost over powering, as it took over all the alphas senses. Usually vampires smelled of death and dirt, but this one was so different. She was not a normal vampire, no, the raw power rolling off of her was unmistakable. Her swagger was much to docile for a vampire. What was she then? A hybrid, possibly an older vampire. Shaking her head, even an older vampire would smell absolutely horrid.

When we touched my wolf nearly escaped. The alpha thought to herself. Never had she struggled so much to keep him at bay. Even as alpha she had a greater control over her inner wolf than your average ware, on top of that being the only living descendent of Thrain who was the first of wolf kind. It all happened so fast, not really had time to think about it or understand it. As soon as the wolf inside became active my life had changed.

-flashback-

"Honey, we are leaving. We can't stay here any longer." My mothers voice whispered into my hair.

"I don't want to move again, I have friends here mom." I said hugging her tighter before pulling away.

"I know honey, but this is the last time I promise. Now hurry and get your stuff, we must leave before your father gets back." She said grabbing my backpack from the couch and filling it with as much food from the pantry as she could.

"Wait, dads not coming with us?" I asked letting my confusion show.

I was a junior in high school, we had moved every few years because of dads job. He would come home and wake me up saying we had to move, that the people didn't want us here any more. We had been in Florida for 3 years, which is the longest we had stayed anywhere. I had finally began to think that we would stay, for real this time, but it never lasted.

"Somethings wrong with your father, he's not thinking straight. Just trust me Alex. Please, can you do that for me. Please?" My mother said practically on her knees in front of me holding my face in her hands.

"Okay, okay mom. Let's go." I grabbed my back pack from her hands and we headed out to her car. "Where are we going to go?" I asked once she started the engine.

"To your grandparents, and before you start I never told you about them because well they are a bit different." She paused "They live under a different life style than we do." With that she turned on the radio and pulled out of the drive way and fell asleep.

The next thing I know mom was screaming bloody murder as she slammed on the brakes. Looking out over the windshield was my dad stark naked covered in blood. His eyes were a a deep orange yellow and he almost looked possessed.

"Stay in the car." My mother said as she got out, and started screaming at him.

He just looked at her as if he had no idea who she was, his head turned to the side and his upper lip rose showing his bloody mouth. She put her hand over her mouth and took a step back. I watched in horror as my dad became something else entirely. He hunched over as black fur started to cover his body, his face grew, as his features started to become more beast like. I blinked rapidly trying to wake from what must be a terrible nightmare.

The images never faded, but morphed into something even worse.  The sun was beginning to set, and we were out in the middle of no where. The forest surrounded us. Where my father once stood, was now a snarling wolf. The wolfs body was covered in a dark black pelt. The animal was foaming at the mouth snarling and snapping its jaws at my mother. Then it lunged at her, its massive canines clamping down at the edge of her neck where her shoulder was. As she screamed our eyes met as she mouthed 'I love you'. I watched as he threw her away from the car. I watched with tears in my eyes as her body flew through the air.
