"Alright, Abi. It's just school. You will be fine. " The casual-dressed teen says to herself in her car.

She kept her head down for the morning classes. People had tried to talk to her. She had remembered a few people from elementary school. It was now lunchtime. She had packed herself an apple and grapes. Abi was a very simple person with a tiny stomach.

When she exited the building to find a place to eat in peace, she felt the gaze of many people on her. Only one stood out though. She looked over to see a boy staring at her. He was sitting with a group of people on the ledge of the water fountain. She had sworn to herself that he had winked at her as she walked away. She quickly got that thought out of her head and ruled it out as the sun had got into his eye.

Abi had found a quiet spot to eat her lunch, which she quickly did so and drew in her sketchbook. She was anticipating the end of the school day. After thirty minutes of lunch, the bell rang for the fifth period. Abi had taken out her map and schedule of the school to find her advanced chemistry class with Mrs. Hempernickle.

When she got to the door of the science class, the bell rang, and she was ruled late to the class because the door was closed. Abi knocked and the boy who she had thought winked at her opened the door that locked automatically.

"Hi." He smiled and looked down at her tiny frame as she squeezed past him. He didn't move out of the way. The only thing she could think about was how tall he was. He towered over her.

She took her seat where the teacher pointed.

The teacher with a long name spoke with nothing but hatred for the late student. "Thank you for joining us," Hempernickle looked at the names of the kids in her class, "Absinthe? What an odd name. "

Abi blushed because she hated her name and she would be damned if the teacher was gonna say it, "Actually, it's Abi." She corrected her with a smile as the class made the 'oooh' sound.

"I don't have nicknames in my classroom." The bitchy teacher had stated. More 'ooohs' went around, but the boy from before had just smirked at Abi.

"Ma'am, I don't feel comfortable with you calling me Absinthe." The girl started feeling nauseous. She hadn't said her name since before her father told her that he loved her. "My name means something very important to me and it's not your place to decide who gets to use my name."

'Oohs' were flying back and forth between the students of room 202.

"Fine then, Abi. Can you come up to the board and define Mitosis? " The rude teacher smirked at the girl. Her smirk was telling about what she was thinking. She thought that if she gave Abi a hard question, the young girl would crack. Abi got up out of her seat to write the definition and started to walk back to her seat.

"Good, Abi. Now sit down! " The teacher raised her voice as Abi smirked, feeling proud that she had angered the wicked witch.

The school day had ended and Abi was heading to her car, relieved that the day was over. She was only a bit worried about dinner with Aunt Calista's friends and their son. She wondered if she had any classes with him.
