If only happy endings ended that way.

Aphrodite awoke from her slumber, watching as Lucifer looked at her with a gloomy expression. It felt as if their loss happened just yesterday. For her, it had.

Just yesterday, she was sitting in the sand with Onyx and Amora, their beautiful smiles gracing her as their tiny toddler hands played with the little sea shells that decorated the sand.

He was always a quiet one... always observing his surroundings and working his little brain that baffled her. He could comprehend things a middle schooler couldn't and it made her proud of him. Amora and Kane weren't too far behind. Amora developed a sense of awareness along with sneakiness. She would take something or eat something and you wouldn't know it's gone until you think about it.

Kane was more on the playful side but he was smart nonetheless.

She knew that eventually, her husbands would begin teaching them to be rulers. She also knew that Amora would have more of a hard time, because of being a woman. But she knew she could handle it since she beat up her brothers every time they did something she believed was childish.

These things didn't go appreciated, and she regrets each day for not enjoying those little moments more because nothing lasts forever.

One minute Amora was in her sight, and the next she just wasn't.

She didn't know what happened after that. She remembers screaming before it all went dark. She remembered the pain in her chest when she realized someone had taken her daughter. The wrath of a goddess is unimaginable. And she made sure they knew this.

She made the world barren. The plants that made the earth look alive were dried and as dead as her soul had become. Aphrodite drained every bit of her power in making sure the world felt her pain. But still, Amora wasn't brought to her.

Aphrodite's rage knew no end. She knew that punishing the world was unfair, but taking her child was unfair as well. Water didn't pour from the sky, only blood. The skies rained the blood of those she wished to spill. Her jealousy began to morph from nothingness as she saw the pregnant mortal women with babies.

One moment they had bright smiles, then the next they were grieving over the loss of their child, just as Aphrodite have been. Then she made them barren too. Aphrodite stopped time, keeping them in this gloomy reality.

But no one knew who the child really was. No one knew that the Queen's child had been taken.

The only thing that kept her waking up in the morning, was the heartbeat she felt in her chest. With its beat, it proved to her that her daughter was still alive and breathing. But for how long?

"Aphrodite..." The melodic voice was in her head again. The soft voice was familiar, but their identity was unknown. She knew that the only time it spoke to her, was when she messed up.

"Aphrodite." This time, the voice demanded to be acknowledged.

"What is it now? Are you here to tell me that I am wrong? That I should give up looking for my child?!" She raged, looking around into nothingness. There was silence before the voice spoke again.

"Yes." She couldn't help the wails that escaped her lips. She couldn't help the pain in her chest that squeezed her to death, not being able to believe what was being said.

"All will fall in place soon, my child. And when it does, you will no longer resent me like the way you do now..." Aphrodite couldn't believe her ears. The only person she resented most in the world, was Fate. "She is where she needs to be, Aphrodite. Her life is already planned, and she will not be spending it here in this castle. Her destiny is far greater."

Aphrodite scrunched her eyebrows, looking at the appearing cloaked figure. Its body was slender as it walked towards her, the inside only showing a pool of darkness. "I... how is she so special?"

"Amora is not just special. She is the first of her kind. You were mated to the kings for a reason. Aphrodite, your daughter has the blood of every living creature running through her veins. You are the descendent of the most powerful god and Titan to ever exist."

"How could you be so heartless... Is that what all this was? Mating me to make the ultimate child so that you can just take her away from me? I knew fate was a bitch but I didn't think you were this horrible." She began to drink vodka straight, having a love-hate relationship with how it burned her throat.

Fate sighed, giving Aphrodite a once over. "Eventually things will fall in place, Aphrodite. Now you must fix the world. The innocent does not deserve to be on the receiving end of your hatred and pain."

Aphrodite said no words as the figure left her to her thoughts. No. She vowed to make sure they felt her pain and now she had to see it through. She knew Gaia would punish her for the deadened Earth if it wasn't resolved quickly. The scarcity on Earth was very high.

She began to slowly restore the Earth, but not the people. No. She'd make them feel her pain. She'd rob them of their children, as Fate had done to her.
