"Damn you!" Mrs. Demarko screeched. Yabo's fangs were dug deep into her hand, and he wasn't letting go.
Moiya fell to the ground, crying out in pain at the bullet that had shot through her shoulder.
If Yabo hadn't attacked her, it would've hit my heart!
"Stupid animal!" the woman screamed, whacking the pandacoon's head hard against a wooden wall. A sickening crack echoed in Moiya's ears. Her eyes filled with tears as she watched Yabo go limp and fall to the ground. In the back of her head, she could hear Soraya scream.
Myrl took the opportunity to lunge at Mrs. Demarko with his claws. Zaruna also sprinted at her with the club pointed at the woman's lungs.
A wall of flames burst into the air, separating the two from killing Mrs. Demarko. The last living crew member had intervened, a large, beefy man with a bushy beard and brown trench coat that they hadn't seen before.
"You murdered my men!" the man bellowed before addressing the woman behind him. "Liza! I thought these brats would be easy to kidnap!"
"It seems they know how to cast magic," Mrs. Demarko said while reloading her pistol. "That should be more than enough proof for MagiCorp to lock up those twins," She gestured with her head towards Moiya and Zaruna. "You can finish off the girls, we don't need them."
"And what of the man?" Krames asked, his blue eyes narrowing at Myrl.
"He'll be our scapegoat. He's the one who murdered the girls."
Mryl's claws extended another few inches as he glared at the pair before him.
"But you've already shot the girl with your gun," Krames frowned. "He has claws-"
"We'll shoot him in the head, wipe our fingerprints off the gun, make him hold it, and frame it as a suicide," Liza's eye twitched in irritation. "Must I always think of everything?"
"Vat's going to happen to Jacquelle?" Zaruna asked, her grip on the club tightening while she glared at the woman through the orange flamed wall.
Mrs. Demarko cackled, her pupils small against her wide, hungry eyes. "My dearest daughter is a disappointment, but soon she won't be..."
She grinned maniacally and raised her pistol. "My eldest daughter is the first successful hybrid of an angel and Etherian ever created, the next evolutionary step for our kind, and Jacquelle will be the second!"
Liza shot again at Moiya. The girl bent over in shock, her hands instinctively grasping at the wound in her stomach as it filled up with blood.
"Moiya!" Zaruna cried as she sprinted toward her friend.
Bang!
The Rosinkin girl screamed and collapsed onto the deck, blood seeping down her wounded leg.
