The once warm and welcoming hallways were now cold and eerie as Soraya followed closely behind Alizon Doorfeather. She wanted nothing more than to run away and join her friends at the Matumi Beach Concert, but she had to hear him out.
What news about my father does he have? Does he know where Yosef is too? Unless he's lying... The girl knew the route they were taking and bit her lower lip. Why are we going to Norma Whisper's office?
Echoes of a heated conversation bounced off the stone walls as Alizon and Soraya rounded another corner. The girl's eyes widened when she spotted Tildama Lewandow, Venara Cristo, and Finn Duraiko all towering over Jonathan Marlot, each Mage pointing their raised wands at her friend who was disguised as the therapist.
"Josephine Macklin," Tildama spoke, her voice low and menacing. "You're under arrest for impersonating a psychologist, falsifying documents, committing theft and third-degree murder."
Soraya's blood drained from her face. Don't arrest Marlot!
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Jon chuckled. "It's about time you all caught on to her evil deeds..."
Finn's eyebrow raised. "Don't you mean your evil deeds?"
"No," Jon held out his wrists so Tildama could handcuff him. He swiveled his head, spotted Soraya, and flashed her a wide grin. "Don't worry, kid, I'll see you soon, everything is fine."
"No, Ms. Macklin," Venara smirked. "You're never coming back to this school. I doubt you'll ever see the light of day again."
"Yes, Josephine will rot alright," Jon cackled. "But I won't."
Venara stared in disbelief. "How did you pull off being a therapist for so long?" she clicked her tongue. "You're clearly insane."
Soraya held her tears in as she watched the three Mages haul Marlot away. Jon will escape... he has to!
Marlot smiled at her before disappearing behind a wall. It reminded the girl of her father vanishing from view before she boarded the Rivingale Express.
Please... I can't lose you too...
Alizon, who was studying her carefully through narrowed slits, opened the office door. "Ms. Thenayu," he beckoned, curling his pointer finger. "We need to have a little chat about Ms. Whispers. I have some questions to ask you."
Soraya didn't want to go inside the room with him. It took all her willpower to fight the urge of running down the hallway and freeing Jonathan. "Sir, I don't know you that well, I just don't feel comfortable being with you alone..."
The girl took a step back. "Can we talk another day? I'm so confused and overwhelmed by what I just saw, I-I don't think I'll be much help."
Alizon's face hardened. "That woman was a criminal pretending to be a therapist. I understand that you're emotional, but I really need to ask you some questions-"
