Despite being greatly troubled by the voice she had heard inside her head, Soraya decided it was best to not tell her new friends about it. She wasn't sure how they would respond to such outlandish news, and was scared of finding out.
I've already lost Mama, and Papa isn't doing well. I don't want to lose anyone else. Maybe, after I get to know them better, I can start confiding in them about what's happening to me...
Soraya's hand hovered over the wooden door before she knocked on the entrance to the Blue House for boys. She watched through one of the wide windows in the hallway as the sun sank into the Valtic Ocean. The surrounding sky turned into vibrant candy pinks and oranges before being swallowed up by twilight purples and blues.
After a few moments of being distracted by the gorgeous sundry of hues outside, she knocked again. Louder this time.
A boy with light skin, golden hair and eyes opened the door and stared in confusion at the girl.
"You do know that you can just enter if you wanted to, right?" he said. "This is where we study, it's technically open for all students."
"Oh!" Soraya exclaimed. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that."
The boy moved out of the way and beckoned her inside. The first thing Soraya noticed was that the common room looked identical to theirs. It was also circular, had a fireplace, tables and chairs alongside the walls, and the same color schemes of blue, silver and white. The major difference was the view from their windows showed more of the Valtic Ocean than the town of Matumi.
Several other boys were also in the room. Some were studying and reading books, while others were chatting together. However, upon Soraya's entry, all of them looked up and seemed to be surprised that one of the girls had come over to their area.
"Are you looking for someone?" the golden eyed boy asked. "I'm Olive Wilder, by the way."
"I'm Soraya Thenayu," the girl replied. "Do you know where Ujuu and Rhys Leyo are? I wanted to ask them how to mail letters."
"Hey, Soraya!"
Ujuu, who had been sitting at one of the tables, leapt down from his seat. "Did you say, mail letters, and how to?"
"Yes I did," Soraya held up her sealed envelope. "I want to deliver this to my father."
"Oh sweet! I'm also writing a letter. Check this out!" He picked up a parchment envelope and pointed at who it was addressed to with one of his sharp claws.
"Zaruna Markies? Who is that?" Soraya asked while studying his Azakuin handwriting. His letters were drawn beautifully, as if it had been done by a professional calligrapher.
"My absolute best friend aside from my dear brother," his candy apple eyes sparkled like rubies while he sighed longingly and looked out towards the sea.
