Right now, Chad had zero patience for silly women who just wanted to have some alone time with him. He had a mission of avoiding the butter churner girl, and he needed to succeed throughout the entire night until she was gone.

This woman seemed to follow him outside into the gardens, not even caring that her high heels were probably being ruined in the tall snow.

"Hey! Duke!" She called, brown hair tied into an easy bun and lips painted in a dangerous shade of red.

"Yes? How can I help you?" he responded formally.

"In many ways, I am sure," she flirted, batting her eyelashes. "I just wanted to congratulate your party. It is quite a success."

"Thank you," he nodded, and turned to continue walking, but the woman grabbed his arm and began talking again, only letting go when she saw his deathly glare.

"I mean, except that ghastly butter ball. It is quite laughable." She chuckled deviantly and Chad knew that this woman's interests lay further than just conversing about the party.

"Don't insult the art of the workers," he snapped. Even though Chad was heartbroken, he still wouldn't stand someone insulting Adrianna's work. He looked at the woman closer this time, trying to place her familiar face, "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Oh, yes," She said, looking up at him through her lashes, a devious smile curving on her lips. "How are those toes doing? I hope you haven't frozen them off while standing in the cold snow!"

Realization dawned on Chad. He had slept with this woman a few months ago and showed her his feet. She was one of the only people he did that with, and she was also the reason why he hadn't continued to open up about himself, except for Adrianna.

"Megalodon, it's been a while." Chad said coldly. "Where's that husband of yours?"

"Oh him," she said, flicking a bug from her arm, "he's gone."

"And your kid?" Chad could remember the regret he felt after having sex with a married woman, he didn't even realize she had a kid until afterwards.

"Oh, ya know," She said carelessly. "Not a part of the picture anymore."

"What are you here for, Meg?" Chad asked, starting to get annoyed by her refusal to answer his questions with a straight answer, but with this question, she finally looked him dead in the eyes.

"I'm here for you, darling." She started to circle the Duke, examining her fingernails and toying with loose strands of her hair.

"I am not interested in you," Chad gritted his teeth, fingernails biting into his palm.

"Oh, because of that worthless churner girl you flaunted your stick at? How pathetic. She isn't interested in you. Don't worry though, she will be cared for by another man. I made sure of that." Meg's laugh was cut short but Chad's hand gripping her wrist, "Ow! Let go of me!"

"What did you say?" Chad growled.

"Your little fling has been dealt with." Meg hissed back, straining on his vice grip.

"What do you want from me?"

"I want to be your wife of course, and if you don't marry me, I will just kill Adrianna instead."

"What kind of marriage proposal is that?" Chad tossed her aside, "I know you wouldn't kill her."

"I will kill my ex-sister-in-law... just like I killed my kid." Chad stepped back, realizing the weight of her words. If Adrianna was Meg's ex-sister-in-law, then that means that Chad had slept with Adrianna's brother's wife. And Adrianna's brother's ex-wife was now threatening to hurt her. He wondered if it was true if she had hurt her child as well. It couldn't be, a person couldn't be that delusional. Things were starting to click together

"If you hurt her, I will come for you," Chad warned, eyeing the people around them who were getting suspicious of their conversation. All of the people watching also meant that he couldn't take her down at this instance.

"She has other family members I can take care of as well," Meg smiled innocently.

Chad was just about to tell her to go suck on a giant piece of bread when he heard a melodic sound in the air. It was a man calling out a name in a sing-song voice.

"Oh, Adrianna? Where art thou?" The voice called, and Chad turned around in a circle to see where it was coming from, and where it was headed towards. "Adrianna!"

Chad knew who it was, and what he had to do.

"Meg, we are going to have to finish this conversation later," Chad didn't give her a second glance before running towards that horrible voice.
