A Little Headway
________________________________

"We've already searched anything and everything relating to the Zenethians and Thomas Holmes and we haven't gotten anywhere," Amy complains. "Doctor, what are we supposed to be searching?"

"Ohhh come on, Amy! It isn't that hard to put together!" the Doctor says excitedly, spinning the TARDIS's computer screen to be in front of the typewriter and plugging them together.

"Search everything having to do with James Moriarty," Charlie offers.

"Of course!" River joins in the Doctor's excitement. "If you can't find anything on the main person, search things having to do with his subjects. Brilliant!" She hastily gives the Doctor a kiss on the cheek.

Charlie sends a quick text to Dean telling the rest to find anything they can on Moriarty. She really doesn't know why the Doctor is having them use laptops to research when the TARDIS is perfectly capable of doing the same and so much more. Charlie guesses maybe it's so everyone can keep busy and not get their minds off track.

While Charlie had been distracted, the Doctor had searched Moriarty's name and Amy and River had been skimming files and information over his shoulder.

"There!" Amy says pointing to the screen. "Earliest thing I've seen so far with his name. It's from twenty-one years ago. He was just a kid then, fourteen."

The Doctor opens the file. There's a small picture of a very young James Moriarty, with an article from a town paper. A missing persons article.

"His Grandmother thought he was kidnapped. This is the article she let out a few months after he had left home," the Doctor says.

After a few moments of silence during which everyone skimmed the article, an idea comes to Charlie and she claps her hands in excitement which gets the other's attention.

"Doctor, can you search a photo of a person to come up with more results?"

The Doctor looks confused at first but then grins and snaps a finger at Charlie, "Wonderful idea!"

"Search facial recognition so even if his name doesn't appear in something, a photograph might," Amy smiles. "Nice thinking, Ginge."

Charlie laughs at the nickname and eagerly awaits with the others for the Doctor's search to be completed.

"It's all here," River gapes. "Old school photographs, the Carl Powers case that was never officially solved, a behavioral record from school, there are newspaper photographs here that I bet he doesn't even know he's in."

"He really slips up some times," Amy notes.

"I've texted Sam to have them all come up here," says Charlie. "They need to see this stuff."

It's within minutes that the rest of the gang joins them. Sam still has his borrowed laptop in hand and explains that he's going to make a timeline of all the information that they will hopefully find. The article about Moriarty's disappearance gets put first and Sam types a short paragraph about it.

"Alright what else?" Dean asks impatiently.

The Doctor goes back to the search page and pulls up another newspaper article.

"That's dated four years after he went missing," Cas points out. "Is there nothing before that?"

"Oh! Wait!" Merlin calls out before the Doctor goes back to the search page. "It says Moriarty gave a statement to the police after being seen at the premises of a murder. There'll be a record of that somewhere."
