The building was looming and intimidating as they approached. Y/n wanted to get this over with. While the aftermath of this meeting wasn't exactly ideal, it sounded better than an interrogation. Kakashi strode in with confidence, so Y/n mirrored him. Down the hallway and towards a set of offices, Y/n's facade was cracking with each step.
The walls were all pale colors, greens, and blues, a cream color here and there. Y/n took in the space as they walked, trying to memorize everything she could about what she saw. While she may want an everyday life and become a Kunoichi of the Leaf, she had to look out for herself.
"Ibiki," Kakashi called as he turned into an open office door. "I have Y/n here for her-"
"Interrogation," Y/n said as she stepped beside Kakashi.
Y/n's eyes settled on the man that must be Ibiki. Even with his scarred face, he was still a handsome man. Stoic. Standoffish. Intimidating. Possibly an asshole.
Ibiki stood from his desk and approached the doorway. Shaking Kakashi's hand, he eyes Y/n, "This's gotta be a first," his gruff voice mumbled. "I hope you know what you're doing." The end of his words was directed at Kakashi and much louder.
"I don't want to be here either," Y/n captured Ibiki's attention, "if that makes you feel any better."
Ibiki arched a brow, "She's got a mouth on her." Ibiki snorted. "Good to know." Jerking his head to the side, Ibiki added, "End of the hall, spitfire."
What was it with these men and nicknames? Y/n rolled her eyes and stepped back, letting Kakashi lead the way. Ibiki stepped behind her, following after them. Kakashi pushed the door open, allowing Y/n and Ibiki to step in. Ibiki pointed to a chair while he walked around to the other side of the table.
This really was an interrogation. The wooden table had two chairs on one side and a single chair on the other. The only difference between this room and one back in Kiri was the lack of bloodstains on the floor and walls. Y/n settled in the uncomfortable chair as she glanced at Kakashi. Kakashi move to stand behind Ibiki, strategic so Y/n could see him.
"I see you have no cuffs on," Ibiki stated. Then, as Y/n nodded, he continued, "Is there a seal in place?" With a shake of her head this time, Ibiki frowned.
"That was my choice," Kakashi interjected, "We spoke before and agreed that I would place the seal after this. Once she's certain, she wants to stay."
Ibiki remained still as he listened to Kakashi's explanation. Y/n kept her face neutral as she eyed Ibiki. Then, arching a brow, she caved before he did, "What do you want to know? I'd like to get this over with, please." She gave a fake grin that made Kakashi choke on a laugh.
Ibiki went straight for the kill shot, "You're Zabuza Momochi's sister."
"Well fuck you too," Y/n snorted, "Yes." She replied dryly.
Kakashi shifted his feet as he crossed his arms. Then, leaning against the wall, he tried to take up a casual stance. He wasn't sure what it was about the woman, but the moment he saw the streak of fear in her eyes, he had this deep-seated need to protect her. Even from Ibiki, it seemed.
Ibiki chuckled at her snapped response. "You defected from Kiri." He stated plainly. "Why?" There was no room for debate if she had to answer or not.
Y/n leaned back in the chair, crossing her arms across her chest. "The Mist is a place full of corruption and death- I'm tired of living like that. Yes, I've killed, but only those that deserved it. I was punished time and time again for not killing a target my captain wanted dead."
"Punished how?" Ibiki grew curious.
Her eyes glazed over as a faraway look appeared on her face, "Do you want to see the scars?" Kakashi hated the way her voice sounded. Lost and alone.
