Ashlyn’s POV:
Speeding down the all-to-familiar road leading to my best friend's house, I sang along with Miranda on the radio, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel as she belted out about how she didn't have her Mama's broken heart. Miranda has been one of my favorites since she first came onto the scene. Having met her, I could honestly say she was just as sassy as she seemed. Having dated her ex though, I couldn't help but wonder if she and I had more in common than we thought. After all, our shared history with her ex husband had been what brought us together to begin with. Blake had been a black mark in both of our pasts but as bad as our experience had been, I had earned a good friend out of the deal. Which reminded me, I needed to call her and plan a girls night. I needed a night out on the town.

Making a mental note to call Miranda when I got all my crap moved into my new place, I continued down the road, belting out along with the radio. I just hoped that the idiot I call my best friend wasn't too hungover to help me move the furniture I needed moved today. When I’d left last night to do some more packing, Chase had been well on his way to pulling a good one.

I slowed down -preparing to turn into his driveway- when an SUV pulled out ahead of me. Lifting my free hand, I pulled down my sunglasses unable to keep the low sigh in at the familiar pair of blondes making their escape, one of them driving and one of them sitting in the passenger seat, obviously sporting one hell of a hangover. Pretty sure I could see the look of shame on the passenger from here. The driver, not so much. Fuck me, not this shit again!!

Speeding up the driveway, I slammed my jeep into park, killing the engine before jumping out and stomping to the door of my bestie's house. Once I reached the front door, I yanked it open and quickly kicked it closed with a loud slam. Looking around the living room, I saw an empty fifth of Jack Daniels and an empty fifth of Jośe, pictures knocked over, throw pillows scattered everywhere. When I heard footsteps coming down the stairs, I turned and glared in that direction. I fisted my hands on my hips in an attempt to make myself look menacing. But considering I was just barely five foot tall and didn't even weigh 110 pounds, all it had done was make the handsome Devil I call my best friend smile at me.

"Hey bestie" said my best friend when he reached the bottom of the stairs, leaning his hips against the banister and crossing his arms over his chest. The Carolina blue UNC shorts he was wearing hanging low on his hips. That V-line in view that would have any woman risking bodily harm to get close to. His hair sticking up in a million directions added to the effect. Sure, he was my best friend but even I could appreciate the view standing before me, even if I was a little pissed at him slumming it with the blonde I’d just seen leaving.

"Dammit to hell, Chase Daniel! Hope you enjoyed last night!" I snapped as I took a step closer to him. "How many times have I told you that messing with her is a bad idea? She's made if fucking obvious that she's only trying to trap you into getting her knocked up so she can say she has a baby by someone famous!"

"She was drinking tequila last night, Ash," Chase grumbled, bumping me out of the way to stomp to his kitchen. I trailed after him like a rabid dog after a bone. "And well, you know just as much as I do that shit happens when she drinks tequila."

"Gee," I drawled sarcastically as I jumped up on his counter watching him fix coffee, putting his back to me. I raised an eyebrow at the scratch marks on his back. "Judging by the claw marks on your back, it looks like you lost a fight with a hellcat. Might want to make sure you're up to date on your tetanus shot. Probably wouldn't hurt to see about getting a series of rabies shots too."
