I was standing at my locker when I heard his voice.

“Sup, geek?”
You were expecting Jacob, weren’t you? No, this is not Jacob at all. This is Sawyer. He’s the usual bully around here. And he always seems to target me. I rolled my eyes when I heard his voice and just continued to pack up my backpack for my next class. I when my locker slammed, and not upon my own accord, I was forced to looked at him with his large, beefy hands. He looked like the Stay Puft marshmallow man from Ghostbusters and the Pillsbury Dough Boy had a child.

“I asked you a question.” He grunted, causing me to try and walk away. He merely kicked me to the ground, sending the book I was holding flying. “I said that I asked you a question!” Sawyer yelled at me, eyes blazing with obvious rage. I growled a bit and looked over my shoulder at him. “If you’d learn to use proper vocabulary - oof!” My quip was cut off by a foot to my stomach.

“HEY.” I heard someone shout as I tried to regain the breath that I had gotten knocked out of me. After a few moments of what sounded like roughhousing, I was helped to my feet.

“Thank you. . . “ I said before fixing my glasses and seeing who it was. Jacob chuckled and smiled. “Anytime. If that guy ever gives you any more problems, let me know, okay?” I nodded and grabbed my book from the floor. I was about to leave when he grabbed my shoulder. “Hey, Cas. . . I was wondering, because we have a long weekend. . . Wanna come spend the night tonight? I’d be able to come and pick you up if needs be.”

I felt my face becoming heated once more, but for no real reason. Again. I took a deep breath and nodded. “I can ask when I get home, but I don’t see it being an issue. . . How would I get ahold of you?” I asked, and he got this look of realization on his face. “Oh, yeah!” He said, going into his bag and pulling out one of those little hand-held notebooks, as well as a pen. He scribbled on a few numbers and ripped it out. “Here, it’s my cell.”

I took it after a moment and nodded. “Alright.” I said with a nod and a blush, smiling softly at him. “I’ll see you tonight then?” “Yeah. See ya tonight!” I watched him run off before walking to my next class.

I walked into my flat to pack my bags, smiling and petting Brutus as he tackled me at the door. My mum was home, so I walked to where she was sitting on her lap top, scrolling about on Facebook. “Hey, mum? Jacob wanted to know if I could spend the night tonight?”

“Over there? Sure, I don’t care.” She replied. I smiled and thanked her, giving her a hug before going to my room, packing a blanket, spare clothes, and pyjamas in a backpack, as well as my toothbrush and hairbrush. I grabbed a glasses case just to be safe and snagged my pillow from the bed. Once done packing, I took out my mobile and the slip of paper Jacob had given me before dialing.

I listened to the ringing for a while, fearing that he wouldn’t pick up because he didn’t know my number. Before what I thought was the last ring, I heard a, “Hello?” That could only be from Jacob. “Hey, Jacob? It’s Casper.”

“Cas!” He sounded so joyful, it made my heart flutter for some odd reason. I shrugged it off and smiled. “Hey, could you come pick me up?” I asked, sitting down on my bed. “Yeah, of course!” I heard him say with that funny little American accent of his. “But I need your address first.”

I gave him my address, to which he wrote down. “Alrighty then! I’ll be over in a bit, okay?” He asked, to which I replied with a simple, “Yeah, alright.” Jacob gave a quick good-bye before hanging up on me. I put my mobile into my bag and quickly laid down, waiting for the doorbell or maybe a knock.
