It's late but you can't sleep, you decide to have a midnight walk across the school grounds. After a while you remember how early you have to get up tomorrow for Jamie's Partizan training the next day and groan, turning back around to get back to your dorm so you can get at least a few hours of sleep.
You take a shortcut near the empty pool, but spot a blonde head, and swivel back round to get a better look, backing up behind a large rose bush to hide yourself
Lottie's stood near the edge of the pool, and Haru is on the other side. Your eyes narrow as soon as you see the deceitful, devilish, evil, innocent looking but not innocent boy.
What is he doing with Lottie?
You crouch down in order to look further around the bush without being spotted. Lottie has her back to you and Haru is smiling at her. He would be much easier to hate if he didn't act so nice and look like a baby deer.
You can't hear what they're saying but don't draw your eyes away from the scene. Haru steps down into the drained pool and starts approaching Lottie. You imagine if Jamie was here he would've already charged and tackled the threat to the ground. But you wait a little longer, fists clenched and body tensed, ready to swoop in if anything goes wrong. Sometimes being a Partizan is more about when than how.
Haru bows and hands Lottie an envelope, then walks away once more, disappearing into the night. You run out and skid across the concrete towards Lottie in seconds.
"What just happened?!" You demand, glaring daggers in the direction Haru left, "I didn't want to come out because I wasn't sure of the situation, and I didn't want Haru to know I was here. But seeing you alone with him FREAKED me out Lottie! What did he say!"
Lottie blinks at you, "I've never seen you like this before."
"What panicked?"
"Yes."
"It's because Jamie's not here! Jamie doesn't even know. That means I'm the only one protecting you and Ellie from him. I don't think I'm ready for that! Haru's a real Partizan, and a really good liar!"
Lottie smiles, "Don't worry y/n, you did the right thing by staying back. If Haru knew you know too things would be even worse than they are."
"Lottie! What did he want?!"
She looks down at the envelope in her hands, her eyes clouding with anxiety. "I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know? He was just speaking to you!"
"He told me not to tell Jamie about him being part of the Leviathan, keep it secret, otherwise he'll..."
Her hesitation begins to grow annoying."He'll what?!"
"Take Jamie."

Jamie cancels on the Partizan training, which he's never done before, especially on the first day of it. And the next meeting in your friends' underground hideout is an eventful one.
You walk quickly through the stairwell because you're late, a vanilla milkshake in one hand.
You then spot the back of Jamie heading to the meeting too. He turns at the sound of your clumsy footsteps, "Late again y/n?"
