Your knock on Jamie's and Percy's door seems to echo, despite the absorbent wooden structure. There's no response for a minute, and you imagine the boys arguing in sign over who should answer.
Finally you hear a shuffling of feet, then the door swings open, an agitated Percy behind it.
He looks surprised to see you, his hands moving swiftly and in control to greet you,
Y/n?
Your sign is okay, but a bit jerky and slow.
Is Jamie here?
Percy pauses, looking awkward.
I don't think he wants to speak to anyone right now.
Your heart sinks.
Percy's brown eyes are traced with sympathy.
It's not you y/n
You nod, forcing a small smile, knowing it is, in fact, you.
Is Micky okay?
I think so, Lola and I spoke to him earlier, and he cheered up a bit. Don't worry, we have it sorted.
You hate that none of your friends rely on you for help, because you're always too busy or stressed or obsessing over your own problems.
"I'm sorry I'm never here for you," You say, not knowing how to say it in BSL, "I'm sorry I'm so selfish, and ignorant, and an awful friend."
That's not true. Percy signs rapidly.
"It is true. I'm so obsessed with my own life I don't pay attention to anyone else's, and I'm so full of lies..."
You push away the urge to cry, keeping your face stone cold.
Percy shakes his head.
You smile again reassuringly. "Say hi to Jamie for me."
You turn away and head down to hallway to your own room, eyes cast down.
Why am I like this? I'm being dramatic, spilling all my problems to Percy, he doesn't care! He probably thinks I just want attention. I'm so disgusting, why am I like this? Why am I like thi-
"Y/n." Jamie's voice interrupts your thoughts, he's stood outside his room, Percy watching anxiously behind him.
You didn't notice you were crying until a tear dropped from your chin to your collar bone.
"It's fine Jamie, go back to your room. You don't need to forgive me because I'm," you gesture to your face, strewn with tears, all the while avoiding his piercing gaze, "me."
Vampy walks out of the room through Jamie's legs, stretches and then plods toward you, meowing for attention and curling his tail around your ankle.
You watch the cat, then step away from him, walking away once more.
Jamie follows you immediately, gently placing a hand on your shoulder to stop you from continuing.
"What's wrong? Why won't you listen to me?"
You finally meet his eyes.
His hand lowers from your shoulder, and you notice he's only wearing black joggers and a vest, his well-trained muscles actually visible for once. "Is it because of what happened at the meeting?"
