Day 1: Thursday

I was anxiously looking into my closet to decide what clothes to bring for Amelia and I's small staycation at Maria's house when there was a knock on my bedroom door.

- "Come in." I said with my face still in the closet.

- "Maria dropped this off earlier for you." My abuelo said as he entered.

- "Oh, okay, thank you." I replied as he gave me the envelope that was in his hand.

- "Are you going somewhere?" He asked as he looked at my bed that was filled with things I was going to bring with me.

- "Maria asked Amelia and I if we would watch over her house while she and Ignacio are away, so I'm going to be staying there for a few nights." I answered.

- "Ah, I see. Will you two be okay there alone?" He asked.

- "Of course we will." I eagerly defended.

- "Well, if you'd rather I look after Marias house I have no issue doing so."

- "No, no, we'll be fine, abuelo, I'm sure of it."

- "Okay, charrita, but if you need anything, promise me you'll call home."

- "Okay, I promise." I said as I placed a small kiss on the old mans cheek.

My abuelo left and after quickly picking out a few outfits I was happy with, I sat on my bed and opened the envelope Maria had given my abuelo. Inside were two keys, I assumed one for Amelia and one for me, and a handwritten note. The note said:

"Luisita & Amelia,

I am entrusting you lesbians with the safety of my house. Please do not cause a mess, although I know Amelia's maid skills would perfectly clean any destruction you would possibly make. Also, please do not burn down my kitchen. I know you love to say you have papás cooking skills, but that's not true.
Make sure to change the sheets and bedding before you leave. I don't know how messy you lesbians can get, but I'd rather not have my linen ruined. The bath isn't that big, but I'd be confident in saying you two could fit. Have fun!

- Maria."

I rolled my eyes at her letter and got back to doing more important things, like zippering up the case I had managed to squeeze all my things into. I placed the case by my door and looked at myself in the mirror for a moment. I wore a dress that Amelia had previously said she liked and I put a fresh coat of red lipstick on before putting the lipstick in my purse for later use.

I left mid afternoon to Marias house so I could prepare a few things before I would go get Amelia. Once inside Marias house, I left my case in the hallway and went into every room to make sure Maria didn't surprise us with any of her "jokes". After finding no jokes, I looked into the refrigerator, and even though it was bare, there was a bottle of a wine with a note stuck to it that read "L & A". I smiled at Marias gesture and closed the refrigerator door.

I sat nervously on the couch as I waited for time to pass me by so I could finally go get Amelia. As I sat on the couch, I thought about how surreal the situation of what I was doing really felt to me. Amelia and I, for a few days, we're going to basically live a harmonious life together. We are going to wake up in the same house, have breakfast together, I'll be able to kiss her before we go to work. We're going to come back to the same building after work, we're going to have dinner together, we'll talk about any and everything we want without fear that someone may be listening.
