Teen Fix Interview

Author - thatonewasianqueen

1)May we know a few words about yourself?

~ My name is Zadie, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm just a girl who loves getting lost in her imagination.

2) When did you start writing either on this platform or in normal way?

~ Oh, ever since I was little. Both of my parents are writers and they always encouraged me to write and read as well. I was making books with old cereal boxes and writing fairy tales where I starred as the main character.

3) What is your motivation to write?

~ That changes for every piece I write. Whether it's to bring attention to a cause, to honor a loved one, or simply to express who I am, I always have a meaning for my writing.

4) How did you feel when you got to know that you are the winner?

~ Honestly, validated. I felt like my hard work had paid off. Of course, I'm grateful to my judge and everyone in the community for their work as well.

5) Did you ever face criticism? If yes how did you overcome it?

~ This book was dragged very harshly in a review where they basically told me that everything was wrong with my book. Reading this, I was devastated. There's a fine line between constructive criticism and just outright rudeness, and I do believe that this reviewer crossed that line. My tip for writers is to learn the difference between the two. If it's constructive criticism, take that into consideration. Don't take it as "my work is bad", think of it as, "this person is trying to help me do my best" and get to work on improving your pice if you desire. If it's just some troll being rude, let it go. Like one of my favorite drag queens, Jinx Monsoon says, let it roll off like "water off a duck's back."

6) When did you come across this genre?

~ Not much to say here, since it's general fiction.

7) What was your opinion about our awards and the way we hosted it?

~ I loved your awards! I enter too many awards to have had a very personal experience with this one, but from what I could tell it was run smoothly.

8) How do you handle writers' block?

~ Take a break. Don't search for inspiration, it will come. Walk on the beach, play with a pet, talk to a friend. Inspiration hides where you'll least expect to find it.

9)  Do you plan on taking writing as a profession?

~ No. I plan to write, but I don't want that to be my full-time job as I know that writing would probably not provide me the stability I need in life. That said, in an ideal world I would love to just write, write, write all day long.

10) What was the response you got when you first published this book?

~ Hah, there was very little response. The book doesn't have that many readers. But as far as I can tell, most reviews were positive with a little bit of constructive criticism.

11) Is there any advice you would like to give to teenagers out there?

~ What people think of you should not determine what you think of yourself. You are worth it even if people bring you down and tell you that you are not. Don't stoop to their level, keep your head high.

12) A few words about our community

~ The community looks very cool! Y'all seem to be very professional and you also look like you have a lot to offer Wattpad.

13) Would you like to join this community?

~ No, thank you, but I appreciate the opportunity.

14) How did you feel giving us the interview? Any suggestions would you like to give?

~ I love interviews! This was a great one with interesting questions.

Thank you so much again for this opportunity. I'm grateful.
