Lukas was everywhere, I couldn't avoid him, he haunted my days and my nights, every time I went in patrol I would see him, l couldn't escape him, he was like my personal demon. The police department was getting better, they were getting closer to finding me, I couldn't let that happen.
"Evan, I need a new approach."
"What do you mean?" He questioned.
"This way isn't working, the police department is closing in, it's like they know where i'm going to be before I do." I explained.
"So what do you want to do about it?"
"You know Evan, I think it's time I got a job."
...
"Okay, you now have the social security number of a dead cop." Evan said as he showed me my new ID, I don't know how he managed it, frankly it scared me a little bit.
"Wow, that looks really good!"
"I know, so your name is Lucy Peterson, you're from Seattle, you are twenty-six, and I hacked the system and gave you a bunch of qualifications, they would have to be crazy not to hire you."
"So if I have the social security number of dead person, won't they know?" I asked.
"They would, but I erased all records of her death, officially, she, you just decided to move."
"Okay, so I guess all that's left now is to apply for the job-" Even cut me off,
"Already done."
"Okay, so now I just have to change my appearance."
...
"I've never been a brunette before, I don't know, I kind of like it, but are you sure it will be enough?" I asked Evan, I was worried I didn't look different enough. I had dyed my hair (and eyebrows) dark brown, almost black , I was wearing blue colored contacts, a crap load of makeup, and ridiculously high heeled shoes, as well as some tight, uber sexy outfit, I wouldn't have been caught dead in years ago, that Evan had convinced me was what women wore these days. The whole thing was completed my fake glasses. Yes, fake glasses, because Evan was a huge nerd and wanted me to be Clark Kent.
"Yeah, i'm sure, for one it's been seven years, so you look different anyhow, and two, Alex, never wore makeup, and you wore jeans and t-shirts religiously, like wearing anything else was a crime.
"There confortable!" I defended,"Unlike this monkey suit!"
"You have boobs Alex, show them."
"Urgggh."
...
(A week later)
I walked into the precinct nervously, what if they recognized me? I took a deep breath and walked through the doors.
I asked the first person I saw where the captain's office was and she pointed me to a room in the back.
I knocked on the door, and a voice yelled,
"Come in."
"Hello, I'm Lucy Peterson." I introduced myself.
"Detective Peterson, its so nice to meet you! Welcome to Chicago, I hope you are enjoying our fine city," he smiled at me.
"Yes, it's a bit of a change from Seattle, but I like it." I replied with a smile of my own.
"That's good to hear, so lets get down to business, we seem to be having a bit of a vigilante problem."
