Normal Flow
———
The trainees went to the Portland's Trainer, just like yesterday but with confidence. General Phillip went inside the room and greeted them.
"Good morning," General Phillip said.
"Good morning," they replied.
"Shake yesterday's stress off because we'll not be wasting time. Today, we'll be discussing about Kininvas," he said, "Turn your book, Kininvas and Chaos, to page 36."
They all opened the book and stared at it more seriously than ever.
"Class, now, who among of you knows Kininvas?" General Phillip asked as a fresh start. All of them raised their hands and it made General Phillip nod in satisfaction.
"Of course, everyone," General Phillip chuckled. It was followed by a theater-like laugh.
"Alright, let's start. Kininvas or in other terms, Kingdom Invaders. Kininva came from the words, Kingdom Invaders. The Kin of Kininvas came from the Kin of Kingdom and the Inva of Kininva came from the Inva of Invaders," General Phillip explained.
"It is pronounced as /kin-'in-va/, as we all know. It's either spelled as K-I-N-I-N-V-A or in other dilects at the South, it's spelled K-I-N-I-N-V-A-E. Now, you know what's the meaning of Kininvas, you may ask any questions."
Amy raises her hand and she waves it with excitement. General Phillip's right eyebrow was brushed by his own thumb. Then he pointed Amy with his five fingers tightly together.
"How can they increase their population?" Amy awkwardly stood and asked.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you," General Phillip said. "But our best researchers haven't discovered it yet."
Amy sat down without disappointment. The discussion kept on going until it was their lunch break. Amy's group mates that eventually turned into her friends, headed straight to the canteen. Lance, Amy, and Sally stayed at a table, savouring their packed lunches. As Elise, Tom, and William lined up to buy their food, Jacobson stealthily thrusted William's chest with his elbow to push away from the food stand's line.
"Hey!" William upbraided Jacobson, who walked towards them while on guard. Jacobson clasped William's right shoulder and looked at him in the eye.
"Why? You're low class trainees here. You're supposed to be at the last part of the line," Jacobson whispered.
"And what? You're at the front? That's not fair!" Elise criticized, whispering.
"You, guys, can't you just recognize us just the way all of the students recognize us as famous?" a not-so-tall man – probably Jacobson's friend – butted in.
Amy noticed some bizarre chunterings. She walked near the line where they are whispering arguments.
"Excuse me, Jacobson," Amy grinned. "What do you think you're doing? You won't like some upper class debate."
"How are you sure?" Jacobson smirked. "I'm even above upper class."
"Even higher than my mother?" Amy widened her eyes.
"Who's your mother? Do I know her?" Jacobson cackled, so as his obtuse friends. "And why should I care about her, you, and your stupid friends?"
"Oh, you know too little about me and the Portland Goldens," Amy seriously said. "You should visit our home, sometime."
Sally and Lance were staring at the quiet and unnoticed argument. Enthusiasm took over them to join their team.
"Now, you may let the princess' friends to go back on their original slot of the line before the food servers finally notice your jerkness," Lance boldly said.
Jacobson looked at Amy and back at Lance. Then he shyly looked at everyone. Elise, Tom, and William walked out of the line and went to the table where the other three had sat. Amy, Lance, and Sally followed them.
"You know, Jacobson is really mean," William said.
"Yeah, and his friends, too," Tom said.
"Someday, they'll see," Sally said.
"They're just insecure," Elise said.
"Good thing that Lauren didn't mix up with the chaos," Lance said.
Amy smiled.
"Guys, you know, they can't judge the book by it's cover, always remember that. Even though they're bullying us, we've got each other's back. We'll stick together. We'll prove them wrong. We'll excel in our class!" Amy said.
They all nodded.
Months passed. They had the normal flow of their school life. Jacobson's group is bullying them but, they proved them that they're wrong of what they think about them. It is finally the end of the schoolyear and they were required to prepare. What could possibly happen?
