I can't help but stop here, in front of this mirror in the Hall Of Illuminations. It stops me ever time. I can't help but reach for my pocket and feel the note, the note I found with Iggy's cage on my bed so many years ago, the note that keeps me going, the note I try not to ignore.
'And PLEASE forget all about me.'
"I can't" I whisper to no one.
I was a level four or five when I found the letter. I still think about it to this day, carry it with me.
The warning bell rings through the silver tower. I slowly turn away from the mirror, away from the Lodestar. Prodigies fill the staircase going up, up, up to session.
"Lucky me," I mutter under my breathe as I head up to the top floor for Linguistics with Lady Cadence. I absolutely hate me a Polyglot, since he... he ran away when he figured out he was too.
Marella, Dex, and Bianna pass me on the stairs. They ignore me, they learned that's best. I don't know who to trust anymore. I've cut everyone off since he left, Fitz and me already weren't really speaking so he doesn't care, he cares even less now because he's an Emissary. Everyone else tried up until last year to get me to talk again. I don't talk, not enough.
"Sophie, how's your progress been?" Lady Cadence asked when I stepped in the room. My progress on finding him. All my mentors ask, Lady Cadence seems most interested because him being gone has affected my progress with her so much.
"Nothing more than usual," I mumble.
"You haven't had time?" She sees.
I nod.
"Go now, try to find him before next session, take the extra time," she says. I could swear I heard her mumble in Gisela's voice "Find my son for me."
I pay no attention and turn to leave and then hear screaming and crashing down the stairs. Then all of a sudden......
..................................The staircase just collapses.
