20 - let go

I decided to dedicate this chapter to @avishiagarwal131 who was the first one to comment on my story and just that single comment from this lovely rainbow motivated me to continue the story further. That was something really big for me..So,thank you ! 

A THIRD PERSON'S POV

Beneath the painted sky, by the lively ocean, on the sandy beach, they both poured out their emotions, both not failing to reveal how much the other meant for them. Their lips danced in sync as if their lips were meant for each other. Both of them could feel the butterflies dancing in their stomachs and electricity roaming through their spine. His palms caressed her cheeks while her hand reached his silky hair softly ruffling it.

With each passing moment, they drifted distant away from the real world. They no longer remembered about the beach, the few couples left, or the picnic mat that was already crumpled by now. All they centered on was each other's touch, each other's presence, and the feeling of each other. They continued their wordless confessions until they couldn't breathe anymore. They softly parted but still kept their foreheads touched feeling each other's breath fanning their face. Kane gave another little peck on the rose-cheeked-hanii, he could do it thousands of times more...They both rearranged the picnic mat and laid on it, now watching the tiny dazzling stars that started to appear in the dusky sky. The shoreline was now nearly deserted and they could see lights of small sailboats or maybe ships from the horizon. The breeze was now more chill but they didn't have to worry as they were snuggled up in a warm comforter sharing each other's warmth. The tranquil silence was once again prevailing and they just watched the horizon before packing up and heading back to their apartment.

 Once they arrived home, she almost refused to leave his hand and so did him but none of them really wanted to start talking about sharing the shower though they both won't mind doing that. After freshening up, Kane and Hanii savored the meal they bought on the way and went to bed, just to toss and turn thinking about someone..she about him and he about her, till sleep came and dragged them away from their thoughts.

Next day

Both Loona and Kane rose up to the sound of Loona's alarm and Kane didn't forget to make fun of Loona again. Loona got ready to go to school while Kane said goodbye to her and returned to the department of heavens as he had something urgent to do.

KANE'S POV

I said goodbye to Loona and left to return to the department of heaven. Today I had to meet the departmental director and ask for my resignation. Me being a devil and doing a devil's tasks will affect Loona's life and I don't want that to happen. I know it is very rare for them to let go of a devil but given my performance overall, I had some faith that they will consider it.

Everyone in the department of heaven me paid their respect to me as I strolled by them towards the departmental director. Me being one of the most well-reputed devils of all time, I was used to all the attention that I got from them.

"Welcome KK, Long time no see how are you !"

The department director enthusiastically addressed me using one of his favorite nicknames for me.

"Yes sir, I'm doing good and today I came to request something from you, how are you?"

"I am fine KK, happy to see you after a long time...anyways given your reputation, I cannot refuse your requests KK, what is it ?"

"I want to quit sir"

The director hesitated for a second, he was shocked. He looked at me weirdly. He must be confused as to why such a successful devil like me suddenly wanted to quit.
