Sim Jake was not like the other boys.
Up until the age of sixteen, he had been homeschooled by his parents. But he was not like the other homeschool children. No, Jake wasn't that much of a nerd and he was cool - very cool.
Slinging his bag over his shoulder, jake bid his parents - Bang Chan and Felix - goodbye. Felix was crying - sobbing, actually - bawling his eyes out at the sight of his child going to a real school for the first time. Until now, Felix and Bang Chan had homeschooled Jake.
It was a touching moment to watch their son walk towards the high school with a proud smile on his face.
Well, that's what they thought. Jake did not have a smile on his face. In fact, he hadn't even walked into the school yet, and he already felt the urge to turn around and walk home. People were walking past him, laughing, bumping into his shoulder. It was not like the kangaroos in Australia. They didn't bump into your shoulder - if anything, they'd punch you and kick you to death if you got too close, but otherwise, they held their distance.
Jake shook his head and walked into the new school, breath taken away by how crowded it was and disappointment filling his veins by how ugly it was. Now, Jake, having been raised by two humble men, was not one to complain. But as soon as he stepped inside that school, he wanted to complain.
With a sigh, Jake walked inside the classroom. He laid eyes on a tall boy who looked like a teacher - would be awkward if it wasn't.
'Hey, I don't know if anyone informed you about me but I'm ne-'
'Leave me alone before I punch you,' the boy replied, taking Jake by surprise.
'O-oh,' Jake uttered.
It wasn't the teacher, well, that was certainly awkward.
Hearing snickers, Jake glanced over his shoulder, seeing two boys.
He moved to sit down in front of the boy with brown hair.
'You don't wanna sit there,' the boy said. 'Choi Beomgyu's boyfriend is gonna sit there.'
As if on queue, a smaller boy sat down on the chair in front of Jake.
'Hey baby,' the boy named Beomgyu greeted him and leaned in for a french kiss.
Disgusted by the sight, Jake moved further down the classroom, finding an empty seat behind a boy in a flannel shirt.
'Nuh-uh-' the same brown-haired boy spoke up. 'He farts a lot.'
Disgusted once more, Jake moved to the seat behind, only for it to get taken by a girl. Exasperation began clawing on his skin as he walked back, trying to find a seat. While doing so, he missed that the teacher was walking in the same direction, only realising it once he had bumped into him - and spilt his coffee all over his shirt.
