-Emiko POV-

Teiko Middle school days: third year of middle school

Everything changed...
Seijuro never walked me home anymore, he was a complete different person...
Someone I could recognise... someone I didn't know...

And then... we were about to leave for a game...
"Sei!" I shouted, before the coach was there.
"What is it Emi?" he asked.

"What the hell is going through your head?" I asked. "I've been watching from the side line for a while, but I can't anymore! Is this really the team you want? No one trusting one another?"
"Shut up, Emiko" he said and walked closer.

"Or else what?" I said. "You are my best friend! You used to tell me everything! You used to trust me... You were the one that taught me everything about basketball, you're the only reason I'm here, Sei! So tell me, why are you someone I don't know anymore?"

"I'm still the same" he said.
"No you're not!" I shouted and then... I felt a sting on my face.
"Akashi-kun!" all I heard was Kuroko shouting out.

I looked at the face that used to be my best friend, I looked at the faces of my friends, who just stood there and I ran out of the room.
"Maeda-san! Maeda-san!" Kuroko grabbed my wrist.

I turned around and began to cry.
He took me in his arms and let me cry.
I felt lost... alone... I was all alone...
The following day, I gave in my resignation letter for the club.

I began calling Kuroko by his first name.
He made time for me, he walked me home every day, we talked a lot.
He even asked me to come and watch the semi-finals and finals.

Which I did.
I watched Tetsuya's friend win his semi-final match and I smiled.
'Tetsuya will be happy'

I was watching from the bleachers, it was strange, not watching a game from up close...
But ever since that day... I haven't been able to watch Seijuro in the eyes...
We haven't spoken since that day...
To be honest, I was scared of him now...

"Heh?" I said out loud when I saw Tetsuya start.
He was playing good, but he wasn't smiling anymore. It was the first time in months I had seen him play.
Someone hit Tetsuya with the elbow...

I ran down the stairs and saw Satsuki.
"Emiko-chan?" she said.
"Where is he?" I asked. "Is Tetsuya okay?"

She opened the door to the infirmary.
"I'll look after him" I said and sat next to Tetsuya, I looked at the nurse. "Could I do that? I'm a medical manager"
"Oh, of course dear" she said and gave me the bandage.

After I was done, I sat down next to him and held his hand.
"He won't be able to play in the next game" I said to Satsuki when she came in. "He just can't"
"That's a shame" it was Seijuro. "Glad to see you're still doing your duties"

Tetsuya began to open his eyes.
"Tetsuya" I said.
"How do you feel?" asked Seijuro.

"Akashi-kun, Momoi-san" said Tetsuya. "Maeda-san?"
"Yeah, came to watch, since you asked" I said.
"How'd the game go?" he asked.

"We won of course" said Seijuro. "The finals start in five minutes"
"I'm playing" said Tetsuya.
"Over my dead body" I said and pushed him back down.

"No, the doctor and Emiko told you to rest" said Seijuro. "You'll stay here"
"But..." said Tetsuya.
"I know. It's Ogiwara-kun, isn't it?" asked Seijuro. "I saw him in the hallway. He said: 'We'll play again sometime'"

"I see" said Tetsuya. "Akashi-kun, please take the finals seriously. Please"
Seijuro stood up. "You don't mind if we crush them?" he asked.
"It'd be worse if you held back" said Tetsuya. "I'm sure that's what he'd say"
