I lay awake staring up at the ceiling, the soft fabric of my blanket brushed against my bare legs as I adjusted my body to face the window. I could hear the faint hum of noise from the common room television, it wasn't unusual for first years to fall asleep by the fire place and forget to switch it off. Although most of the older students had come to an agreement that the noise was rather comforting and so often opted out of turning it off themselves. I was of the same opinion, glancing to my roommates' empty bed, in a way the sounds made me feel less alone in the later hours of the night.
I couldn't get comfortable.
My pillow was contorted into an unholy mess as I wriggled around, trying to find the right angle to sleep in. My jumper had ridden upwards leaving me feeling rather exposed and stray hairs brushed against my face tickling me.
With an irritated rumble I kicked the sheets off of my body.
I didn't even feel tired.
A chill swirled through the half open pane, cooling my anger slightly, accompanied by a few drops of rain. Sitting upright with crossed legs I leant against the curving stone frame and let a few droplets run across my face, closing my eyes as I tried to block out the world.
As the streams tricked down my face and through my hair, over my eyes and against my lips I felt the prickle of goose bumps appear along my skin.
The sheets next to me shifted as the mattress caved to the shape of the person beside me.
'JESUS MATTHEO' I huffed out, 'You nearly gave be a bloody heart attack.'
A look of soft confusion washed over him. 'I couldn't sleep,' He mumbled out amongst a few apologies. 'Just pretend I'm not here.'
I looked to him with an expression that read 'You must be joking.' His only acknowledgement of this was a small sleepy chuckle.
It took me a moment to settle, lying on my back, buried beneath the blankets. A few soft breaths escaped me, soon followed by a gasp as I felt a cold hand against my waist. He let out a small whine as I pushed him off of me.
'Your hands are cold, stop it Theo'
'But you're comfy..'
A light blush rushed over my face, 'Shush.. go to sleep'
After a few seconds of silence I felt a soft pair of lips against my cheek, followed by a warm sigh of air against my neck.
A couple of desperate tugs to my jumper had me fed up enough to face him only to be met with an innocent smile. His hair fell against the sides of his face, curling in mellow chestnut waves. His fingers grazed my collarbone, causing a small shiver to dance along my body at the chill of his touch. His puppy dog eyes lingered against my body as his hands traced patterns against my skin.
A careful hand against the back of my neck pulled me into a long, gentle kiss.
'Y/n?'
'Mhm?'
'You're cute when you're tired.'
