The apology

When we got home, my father called again. I answered, and he said that he got an extra call. He told me that he has been thinking a lot, and he realized he is happy to have me. We were on the phone for about twenty minutes, and by the time we hung up we were both crying. Before we hung up he asked to talk to my mom. He apologized to her, and said that she doesn't have to bail him out. He will serve his time because he knew he did wrong. He said that he understood if she didn't want him back. He told her that he would understand if she would want to get a divorce.

I could tell that my dad was once again sober, and he was truly sorry. I hope that it stays that way.
