It was time for another mission. It was the same basic stuff everyday; you went on missions with your partner and close friend, Aki, and the two of you had to come back home in time to make sure Power and Denji didn't burn the entire building down while you were out for a few hours.
You sighed, walking besides Aki. "Man, every day's the same thing," You complained, "Just endless missions, and more missions, and more paperwork. It's boring!" You huffed, crossing your arms and dragging your feet against the floor lazily.
"Well, we are devil hunters. Did you expect this job to be 'fun?'"Aki asked bluntly.
"Yeah, well, still. I can't even remember the last time I was able to take a break! It's so exhausting." The two of you turned around one of the building corners, and soon spotted the next elevator leading to the bottom floor.
You looked up at him, examining his features. He looks like a literal walking statue. This guy needs to show some emotion for once!
Dark circles were traced underneath his eyes, which made you instantly predict that he stayed up all night again, finishing up house chores he didn't get to complete during the daytime. He was dressed in a similar work suit like yours, except this time, instead of wearing his usual tie, you noticed that it was nowhere to be found on him. His hair was tied up like it normally was, and you couldn't help but smile to yourself.
Topknot. Kind of a cute nickname for him. You looked away to hide a small laugh.
"Where did your tie go, Aki? Your outfit looks incomplete without it, you know," You hummed to yourself, looking him in the eyes curiously.
"I couldn't find it this morning. I think Denji took it. I'll get him back for that," He replied.
"Too bad. You look really good with it on," You sighed, trying to get him all flustered.
Instead, he only responded with, "Thanks. I'll be sure to wear it again, if you find it so attractive,"
You rolled your eyes at his blunt response, as it wasn't what you were expecting.
"Hmm. How about we go get some milkshakes after this mission, Aki? It's been a while since we went out to that diner," You smiled at him. "They have the best chocolate milkshakes, what do you say to picking up some food?"
"I suppose I could. There's nothing else on my schedule besides heading back to watch Denji and Power." He replied. Now there was a joyful gleam in his eyes that he tried to hide.
