"I am so glad you are back. This place wasn't the same with you gone," Shirley pulled me in for a warm hug. A smile graced my lips.
"I missed you all too," I drew back and spoke honestly.
"So how's the work going?" I asked and rounded to my chair.
"As usual," she commented while taking a seat across me.
I nodded in response.
"How many clients till now?" I asked and turned on my laptop
"We have managed to snatch the interest of many people. Oh yeah.. I almost forgot... Gerald Stewart wants our company to design his new house," Shirly exclaimed. That was indeed a big achievement. I had worked really hard to get that particular project. From nagging his PA for an opportunity to sitting through meeting after meeting with his personal designers.
Gerald is one of the top business tycoons in the USA. This project is sure to gain us lots of attention. My grin widened in response. She elaborated that his PA was going to meet us today to discuss the details and negotiate the price. I decided to talk to them personally as Mr. Stewart was the name to reckon with. Shirley walked me through his expectations. It was clear from his likes that he was a nature-loving man. Things will get clearer after today's meeting with his PA.
I had pushed my agitation and frustration to the back of my mind. I wasn't going to let it meddle with my work. Besides my work was my only escapade from the monster who was hell-bent on making my life insufferable. His intentions were still not clear to me. It was perplexing. The way he took a 180-degree turn. First, he wanted me out and now he wants me to say.
Definitely bipolar.
Half an hour later Ian came to my office to meet and thank me. I couldn't hide my surprise when I saw him. He was still here. Alex didn't send him away. Well, that was really good news. We talked a little and he told me that he was going to ask Shirley out very soon. I was happy for both of them. He left after a while as there was a lot of work to do.
I was drowned in my work when Shirley texted me that the PA and designers of Mr. Stewart were here.
I smoothened my green blouse with my hand and just a moment later, my door swung open. There were two men in formals. I rose from my chair and extended my arm for a handshake.
"Hi, I am Crystal Knight," I smiled professionally
"Brian Matthew," the bespectacled guy said.
"Frank Cruise," the taller of them butted in. I gestured for them to sit after shaking hands.
"Before starting out, I would like to thank you for entrusting our company......"
Basically, the meeting was about Geralad's likes, dislikes, hobbies, and all. I realized soon that the task was going to be more difficult than it looked. I was discussing my new ideas with them when my phone vibrated, breaking our attention. I looked down and frowned when I saw the monster's name flashing on my screen. Without thinking twice, I disconnected the call, put my phone on silent mode, and resumed the meeting. Just a minute later, he called again but I ignored him. That was how I gathered five missed calls from him in a span of seven minutes.
Ten minutes later, my phone rang again but this time it was Shirly who was calling me. My brows kneaded in confusion as to why was she ringing me when she knew I was in the middle of a very important meeting. But my unsaid question got answered just a moment later when the door burst open.
My head snapped in the direction of the door along with the other two people sitting with me when the door flung open. The man who in stepped was Mr. Knight himself. I was shocked but more than that I was furious. How dare he interrupted my meeting. He should have taken the hint that I was busy when I didn't answer his call.
