"Look, buddy, "I say to my childhood friend, Renard. "He is absolutely mommy material and you cannot tell me otherwise."

"Alright, settle down you simp," He laughs.

"I'm not a simp-" I argue back, earning a light punch to the noggin by him.

We met up on the way from home. He also lives at the pack house but at a different branch away from the family branch. It's kind of confusing, but nonetheless, we meet up at the entrance and make our way to school from there. He's also a werewolf but he has the same ideals as I do, he had a mate the year prior but, she rejected him before he could say anything. Surprisingly he wasn't too upset with that ordeal and moved on rather fast.

"Meet you at lunch! " I say, walking to my locker.

"Right, see you darlin." He replied jokingly, walking away.

Kinda wished that he meant that every time he said it. I wished I knew what he thought of me. He's the naturally flirtatious type and I don't mind it but it's really frustrating how dense he is. I've been trying to convey my feeling to him for the longest of times but he always finds a way to misinterpret my words.

"It isn't made to be you know," Nova said. "That Renard fella isn't your mate, that's why he never makes an effort to return those feeling-"

"I just didn't convey my feeling clearly enough!" I yelled in my head, embarrassed. "I'll tell him straight next time 'round, so quit yer yapping."

Clank. I slammed the locker shut out of frustration and made my way to first period, English. On the way, I spot the school's biggest player flirting with a gaggle of girls. Damien Knight, coincidentally he was the son of the Alpha of the pack my family belongs in. It was said that he was to ascend to the title of Alpha next year. He was attractive that's to be sure but he isn't my type. I like my men kinda dumb and-

"Mate!"

"Wait, what," I say to Nova. "F-For real?!"

It was true, I turned to look at him clearly for the first time and we locked eyes. He looked...ah....uh...he was attractive, his brown, curly hair hanging just over his eyebrows, his face was sharp and he had ocean blue eyes. But that was it, he was attractive but I felt no attraction towards him that isn't linked to that stupid mate bond. My heart belonged to another after all.

Speaking of that mate bond. I couldn't break eye contact with him as much as I had wanted. The smell of fresh books emitted from him, I had never noticed this before despite passing by him several times in the hallway. I couldn't stop the feeling that courses through my body. It was then where I noticed that he mouthed something.

Mate

"N-Noelle what are you doing! Our mate is-" Nova yelped as I sprinted across the hallway like Lightning Mcqueen to get to class.

No way. No way in hell am I going to get involved with this. I don't want a mate, I don't need a mate. All I need was my dear friend by my side to support me. I repeated that phrase over and over again, ignoring whatever effects the mate bond had on me. I reached my class and took a seat. I had trouble catching my breath, so I opened my notebook and began to write in it. Curse that Moon Goddess, curse her and this stupid fated bond of mine.
