TW: withdrawal, drug addiction, panic attack
________________

"You promised," Amelia yelled desperately through tears and pushed Derek with her hands. Her face was white like freshly fallen snow except for the circles under her eyes that were as dark as a black hole. Her hair hadn't been brushed for a couple of days now as well as washed. The old hoodie she was wearing could no more save her from the cold weather but she still refused to put on something else. Her gorgeous blue eyes were filled with rage and hopelessness and now there were only memories left from when they reminded everyone of the sky on a sunny day.

After the conversation, Amelia had with her brother she truly decided to give it a try and quit drugs, alcohol and smoking. Saturday night was the first time she didn't see Mickey. She was sleeping most of the time so even if Mickey truly did come by she wasn't aware of it. Derek left around 7 pm but promised to visit the next day.

The rain stopped and now through the open window, the smell of the wet asphalt was entering the room along with the fresh air. The streets were already quiet and the only thing that was breaking the perfectly peaceful silence was her mother cleaning the kitchen. The sounds of plates accidentally touching each other and running water was heard from downstairs. The only thing that was on the girl's mind now was how to go through withdrawal and not get caught by her mother. "I can think about it tomorrow, I'm still high," she murmured under her breath and fell back to sleep.

The Sunday morning was the worst. The first signs of withdrawal started somewhen in the middle of the night already as light muscle pain, sweating, anxiety but around 10 in the morning everything got worse. On top of all that she got severe dehydration, nausea, dizziness, and chills. She was laying under the duvet and shivering. Carolyn was meeting with her friends today so it was making hiding the drug abuse easier for the girl. After about half an hour the dry mouth started to bother Amelia so much that it became impossible to endure. She slowly took a sitting position and sat for a couple of seconds adapting her body before wrapping herself in a blanket, getting up, and going to the kitchen. She was moving like a turtle, every new step was given her harder than the previous one, her teeth were chattering from the cold and her whole body was shaking as well. After what felt like hours she finally got to the kitchen and took 3 bottles of water putting them under the blanket and looked towards the stairs. The heavy sigh let out the girl's mouth as she realized she needed to go up now.

Amelia came to the stairs and slowly started to make her way up step by step stopping at every stair to rest. And when she thought she was already almost on the second floor she realized she went less than a half of her way. It was getting harder to stand not even mentioning walk, the blanket started to fall from one of her shoulders and as she tried to fix it one bottle fell and rolled down.

"No no no," she whined as her eyes followed the bottle that was quickly going away. The girl stood there helpless. Every option she had was not good enough, she couldn't go to her room and then come back to take it, neither could she go back down and make her way up from the beginning. She leaned to the banister landing her head on her right hand and holding two bottles and the blanket in the left one.

"Need some help?" she heard a soft voice that forced her to straighten up. Derek was staying at the beginning of the stairs and holding the bottle. Amelia weakly nodded and he quickly made his way to her and lifted her. The girl's body immediately relaxed in her bother's arms and he carried her to her bed.

"Thank you," she whispered crawling under the duvet shaking. Derek opened one of the bottles and helped his sister drink what she did really fast. She had never been that thirsty in her life as though she just went through the whole desert under the hot sun. After the bottle got empty her head landed on the pillow and her body took the pose of an embryo. Derek was sitting next to the girl and stroking her hair.
