Friday-October 21
"Wakey, wakey, Alex."
I groaned and slowly opened my eyes to see Erica sitting near my head. "What are you doing in my room?" I asked, my voice groggy from a
lack of sleep.
"Your dad let me in," Erica replied. She jumped up and down as she patted my legs. "Now get dressed so we can get to the bus on time."
"I don't want to take the bus," I complained.
"Too bad," Erica said, poking my cheek. "I already picked out your outfit of the day. You have really nice clothes." Erica stood up then grabbed the pair of black jeans and olive green bomber jacket she had hung up on my closet door.
"Thanks," I said. I grabbed the outfit and removed the tag from the jacket. "I don't wear them though."
Erica scoffed. "Clearly you don't. I'll be waiting downstairs." She waved before walking out.
I took my phone off the charger and beamed when I saw my notifications. Fifteen texts from my
"Bye, dad," I said, locking arms with Erica.
Dad nodded and continued to talk to Wendy.
"Wanna come over today? Seems we'll be stepsisters in no time, might as well get to know each other a little better, yeah?" Erica said.
I chuckled. "Sure. I'll ask my dad. Maybe you can help me look for a job," I said.
"Don't you mean look for a guy?"
"What?"
"Well you're new here, you're a senior, and prom will be here pretty soon. You'll need a date." Erica grinned. And she stopped walking.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed her arm. "C'mon."
"Is that a yes?" Erica asked.
"A yes to what?"
"Looking for a guy?"
"Maybe. I might not even go to prom. And I have a boyfriend . . ."
Erica gaped at me. "Oh my gosh! You do? And you have to go to prom, you bimbo!"
"I don't have to . . . And my boyfriend's name is Zack Martin."
Erica shook her head. "Well long distance relationships don't always turn out too well. You're weird."
I shrugged. "So I've been told."
We reached the bus stop and Erica continued to talk about prom. It was getting quite annoying actually.
The bus finally arrived and I stepped in. I slowly walked down the aisle and Brody smacked my butt. I stomped my foot and faced him.
"Don't do that again!" I shrieked.
Brody held up his hands.
"Hey!" Donna yelled. "Sit down!"
I sighed and Erica gently pushed me forward. Brody and his friends laughed.
I sat down and Erica sat next to me.
"Why does he do that?" I growled to her.
Erica shrugged. "Just let him do what he wants to you. He likes the agonistic type. If you don't fight then he'll leave you alone."
"How do you know?" I questioned.
"Because he use to do the same thing to me. But then I just let it happen and soon he left me alone a couple of weeks later."
