Ella (A Fast and Furious based story)

Chapter 5

Dom had called ahead and told the guys they had just got to the hospital, and Ella was being tended to.

Mia and Tej got to the hospital first. As soon as Tej parked up, Mia jumped out of the car and ran into the hospital to find her daughter. Tej immediately followed.

The others all arrived minutes after. Together they walked up to the floor that Dom had told them to go to. All 7 of them had finally found it, and saw Dom sitting in the waiting room. They entered, Hobbs holding the door open for everyone to enter. Letty was first inside, carrying Jack. He was confused about what was going on but wasn’t upset or anything which was fine. They couldn’t and didn’t have to tell him what had happened yet.

Dom immediately stood to hug his wife, then ruffling an asleep Jack’s hair, kissing him on the forehead.

Letty gently nudged Brian, who had his head in his hands. He looked up and saw his sleeping boy, not being able to resist a smile. He took him from Letty and let him sleep, his tiny head resting on his shoulder.

The others all took a seat. Letty next to Dom, Mia next to Brian and Jack, and Tej, Roman, Hobbs and Elena all beside each other.

“Any news yet?” Elena piped up, knowing that everyone had that exact question on her mind.

“No not yet. The doctor said she’d come and tell us when there is” Brian spoke softly, putting his arm around Mia, careful not to wake Jack.

“She’ll be ok. She’s a Toretto-O’Conner – those guys are made of steel” Hobbs said with a small smile on his face, Tej responding with “That’s for damn sure. She’s a strong kid”.

Dom put his hand in Letty’s, to which she replied by resting her head on his shoulder.

“You ok Let?” Dom asked, noticing that she was staring into space, with lots on her mind.

“Last time I was here… I just…” she whispered delicately

“Listen babe, don’t blame yourself. It wasn’t your fault. These things just happen sometimes. Okay? We’ll try again when the time’s right. Don’t worry L, we’ll have kids of our own someday, I promise” he assured her.

Little did he know that it may be sooner than they thought.

With that, the doctor entered the waiting room. Everyone stood.

“Tell me she’s ok. Tell me my girl is ok” Mia demanded calmly but brokenly, desperate for answers.

“She’s absolutely fine. She has a fractured rib and some internal bleeding but nothing permanent. I should also tell you that we had to give her anaesthetic, which should be wearing off about now. She may be a bit groggy, but you can go and see her. I think she’d like to see her family” the doctor informed the gang. Brian squeezed Mia’s hand in support.

“Thank you Doc”.

Ella opened her eyes to see the gang surrounding her. It took her a few seconds to realise where she was and how she got there.

“Hey, look who just woke up. We’re so glad you’re ok baby” Brian said, kissing his daughter on the cheek before sitting back down in his seat.

“I thought I was going to lose you El” Mia said, before softly hugging her.

“We did too. But we all knew you’d be ok” Roman said.

“Especially me. I believe I called it” Hobbs said, which got everyone laughing.

“Excuse me” Letty quivered before running out of the room.

“I’ll go” Dom stated, worried that this was all getting on top of her.
