A/N - just to remind you, Brian isn't gone in any way! The previous chapter was only a dedication that I needed and wanted to share, because why not? Pablo deserved it. This is just a cute little idea I had and decided to publish since I was encouraged to update! Hope you like it. Any ideas let me know! Feedback welcome, I love when you guys show interest, makes me happy! :)
Brian was at the house with Lily and Ella. Mia had taken Jack grocery shopping while Dom and Letty were off having some alone time together – a much deserved break from new parenting duties.
Brian sat feeding the now 2 month old Lily, his niece who had recently grown a full head of black hair just like her mum. Brian smiled as she so innocently gulped down her milk, no longer wriggling around in his arms. His own daughter was not far away in the kitchen, making herself a sandwich. He found it funny that she started to pick up Roman's eating habits, which he of course was proud of.
"Dad do you want anything?" Ella asked, shouting from the kitchen.
"No I'm fine baby, thank you" Brian called back, taking the feeding bottle from Lily's mouth and gently placing it on the coffee table in front of him while she moved around.
"Really? Not even a beer?" she questioned, knowing her dad very well. It was mid August, and their family was known for enjoying ice cold Coronas on a day like this.
Ella appeared, balancing her sandwich, a beer and a glass of water.
"One beer for you, one sandwich and water for me, and LOOK, a very special rattle for a very special little lady!" Ella placed the food and drinks on the table and took out the toy from her back pocket, handing it to her little cousin who grabbed it instantly.
"I was looking for that! Dom and Letty said she never goes down without it" Brian exclaimed, when Ella joined him in chuckling as Lily giggled before calming down and slowly falling asleep.
"So now that this little lady's finally asleep, what do you wanna do El?" Brian asked his teenage daughter.
"Do you remember the day we came back here? After the whole...Shaw thing?"
Brian thought for a moment as he recalled the events of that day.
"How could I not?"
"We had one of our barbecues, the family was all here and for the first time in a really long time it truly felt like home..." she continued.
"Yeah I remember... why don't you put the video on?" Brian smiled.
"Oh my god yes! Good idea Dad" Ella piped up, remembering the legendary moment between Uncle Hobbs and Uncle Rome. She went and put the DVD in, resuming her place on the couch next to her father and sleeping baby cousin. The film started, images and memories of that day flooding back.
"Hey Mia, you'd better hide your baby oil! I'm just playing..." Uncle Rome joked, holding his hands up when he saw Hobbs walking up the drive.
"You better hide that big ass forehead!" he responded with, making Tej spit out his drink in laughter. You could hear Ella laughing her head off behind the camera as well. They'd had the whole idea of filming any and every family gathering as a way of documenting their arrival back home, and to show Jack and any future additions to the family when they got older.
"So classic!" Ella mentioned for what wasn't the first time, as the father-daughter duo sat laughing their heads off quietly, so as not to wake Lily.
"Couldn't agree more baby" Brian chuckled.
Before they could realise, time flew by.
The sound of keys rattling in the door filled the house. Mia entered with a sleeping Jack in her arms, while Dom and Letty followed close behind.
They noticed Brian, Ella and little Lily immediately, all sound asleep on the couch. Dom saw the empty DVD case by the TV and smiled when he read the title.
"Should we wake them?" Letty questioned, smiling alongside her husband and sister in law while they simply stood there.
"Nah. How could we mess with that picture? Let's leave them, let them sleep" Dom answered her, kissing his wife shortly but sweetly and heading over to the three on the couch and doing the same to his baby girl and then his older niece. He just smiled at Buster's sleeping form, as he wouldn't have thought all those years ago that this is where they'd end up.
Mia handed Jack to Dom and Letty who went to put him to bed. She grabbed a blanket from a nearby cupboard and draped it over her husband and the kids.
It was the little things that made them the proudest and happiest people around. They were grateful for so many things in this life...
But none could come close to their family.
