Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Damsel in Distress

"Do you mind?" Katherine asks annoyed and Stefan stifles a laugh. Elena ignores her and turns her attentions to Stefan.

"Seriously?" Elena narrows her eyes at him, "You're letting her brainwash you with sex?"

Katherine glares at Elena. "If you really think so lowly of Stefan that he can be brainwashed with sex then how can you claim to love him?" Katherine asks while grabbing her dress and slipping it on. Stefan starts putting his clothes on as well.

"Oh, but you claim to love him?" Elena asks, "Yet the only reason he's giving you the time of day is because he can't have me, and you went and got yourself pregnant."

"I didn't go and get myself pregnant, it takes two to tango," Katherine narrows her eyes at Elena, "And whether you believe it or not... when I said that it's always gonna be Stefan, I actually meant it, unlike you." Katherine walks out of the room.

Elena steps towards a now fully clothed Stefan. "Stefan..." Elena tries to place a comforting hand on his shoulder. He brushes her off.

"That was uncalled for," Stefan says, "You have no right to judge who I choose to share my bed with considering you jumped into my brother's bed less than a day after we broke up..."

He shakes his head and backs away from her. "And Katherine's right, it does take two to tango. Believe it or not Elena, when I choose to be intimate with someone else, it has nothing to do with you... I didn't sleep with Katherine because of you. I slept with her because unlike you, she helped me and she's trying to change for the better."

He leaves Elena standing in the middle of the room frowning.

Bonnie arrives at Whitmore College. She picks up all her schedules, leaving her suitcases for last since Caroline offered to help her when she got there. Her phone buzzes and it's a text from Caroline.

Caroline: My mother needed my help with something, I'm so sorry! Couldn't get in touch with Jeremy and Matt's busy so I asked Stefan to help instead. He was busy when I called so he might be a little late, but he said he'll sort something out. Call me when you get settled in and I'll see you tomorrow in class!

Bonnie sighs before sending her reply.

Bonnie: No problem, thanks for sending Stefan 😊, it's going to be nice to see a familiar face. I'll call you later.

Bonnie leans back against her car about to send Stefan a text to tell him where she is when she feels a breeze and Damon is standing in front of her. She closes her eyes and takes in his scent. He can feel her warmth breath on his skin. Suddenly she realizes what she's doing and opens her eyes.

"Damon, what are you doing here?"

She wants to move, aware of their close proximity, but his piercing blue eyes keep her in place. "Stefan was a little occupied, so I offered to play the hero saving the damsel in distress for once."

Bonnie raises her eyebrow. "You offered to play the hero for someone that isn't Elena?"

Damon frowns. "Why does everyone keep acting like I have no purpose outside of saving Elena?"

Bonnie shrugs. "Maybe because that's the only side of you we ever see."

Damon presses his lips together. "Well not anymore."

He opens her car door and grabs one of the suitcases. She grabs the other suitcase and punches his shoulder before walking towards the dorm room.

"What was that for?" Damon asks annoyed.

She looks over her shoulder and replies, "Calling me a damsel in distress."

She carries on walking and Damon watches the sway of her hips before shaking his head and following after her.

When the reach the room Bonnie enters it and throws her jacket onto the bed. Damon leaves her suitcases near her desk and jumps onto her bed. Bonnie raises her eyebrow, "What are you doing?"

"Making myself comfortable," Damon winks.

Bonnie resists the urge to think of her dream. "Do you really have nothing better to do than annoy me?"

He speeds in front of her, their faces an inch apart. "Maybe I like annoying you..." Damon remarks, "And from the sound of your heartbeat, I think you like it too."

Bonnie shoves him aside. "Or maybe I'm scared of the things you do," Bonnie replies bitterly. He looks hurt and asks, "You're scared of me?"

Bonnie is taken aback by the hurt in his voice, so she tries to make it better. "Oh, come on, like I'd really be scared of you," Bonnie teases him. He lets out a sigh of relief, not understanding why he was so affected by the thought of her being scared of him.

"But if you're going to stick around here and annoy me then you can at least buy me dinner," Bonnie demands playfully.

"Lead the way, Bon Bon," Damon smirks. She locks up the room and they leave to go to a diner near campus.

Stefan walks into the room to find Katherine flipping through channels. "I'm sorry," Stefan says, "For the things Elena said."

"You're not the one that said them," Katherine shrugs, trying to appear unaffected by Elena's words. He cups her cheek and forces her to look at him.

"They weren't true... That's not the kind of person I am. When you helped me, something changed between us, and I started forgiving you... You're not a replacement for her."

Katherine lets out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. She doesn't say anything but searches his eyes and finds sincerity in them. She kisses him softly and moans when he bites her lip.

"I know this wasn't what you were expecting," Katherine says to him after breaking the kiss.

"You're right, it wasn't... But I don't regret it. You're giving me the chance to do something I never thought I'd get to do after being a vampire. I considered my dream of being a father to be lost and now it's not."

He kisses her again and pulls her closer to him.
