Once I was dressed in a short pink dress and white heels, I headed to the bathroom to fix my hair and makeup. Shortly after I finished, there was a knock at my door. I scrambled to the door and took a deep breath before opening it. Noah stood there on my doorstep, dressed in the suit from earlier today except his jacket was replaced with a blue vest. In his hand was a dozen red roses.
"Wow, Noah. Those are beautiful."
"They are nothing compared to you. Abigail, you look stunning." I blushed at his words. "Are you ready to go or do you need a minute? I know I'm a bit early."
He was only a few minutes early but I still thought it was sweet that he was worried.
"No, I'm ready. Let me just grab my purse." I grabbed my white satin clutch and headed out the door. Noah walked me to his car with his hand on the small of my back. It reminded me of the night we first met and I felt a warmth inside. Once we reached the passenger side, he opened the door and held his hand out to me to help me into the car.
"May I ask where we are going?" We had pulled onto the freeway and were heading in the opposite direction of town.
"I made reservations at one of my favorite restaurants. It's about an hour away but well worth the long drive." My heart rate quickened.
"An hour alone in a car with you both ways? You must really have faith in this first date." My voice sounded shakier than I intended.
"Of course I do. Abigail, I already know that I enjoy your company, and based on how effortless the conversation was the first night we met, I have no doubt in my mind that we will be just fine tonight. Just relax and ease your mind, Abigail." He was right.
I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. I don't know why I was so nervous. Maybe it was because there was more on the line now. Before it was just casual sex. No strings, no feelings, no way to get hurt. Now, I was opening up to the idea of something more coming out of this and it scared me. Especially since my last relationship.
"Hey? Are you okay? Is there something on your mind?" His ocean eyes peered at me from his side of the car. His voice dripping with concern.
"Yes. I'm sorry. I was just thinking about my ex." I admitted.
"Not going to lie, that's not exactly what a guy wants to hear on a first date." I snickered at his comment and the humorous undertone to his voice.
"Not like that, Noah. He just hurt me and I'm just..."
"You're scared that if you open yourself up to me, that I'll end up hurting you too."
"Yeah. I know that's wrong of me."
"No, Abigail, it's not. It's human nature to want to protect yourself from potential threats. And based on your previous experiences, a relationship is one of those threats. And I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you're wrong because the truth is we have no idea what's going to happen. We may end up hurting each other. What you need to ask yourself is if it'll be worth it. If the pleasure outweighs the pain."
"Noah, with how much pleasure you've given me these past few days, you could destroy me and it would still be worth it."
I looked over at him and a shy smile spread across his face which warmed my heart. This man, sitting next to me, was worth the heartbreak if it came to that. I knew he was.
"You know, Abigail, you are making it pretty difficult to not pull this car over right now and kiss you." My cheeks turned bright red as he looked longingly at my lips. "Although, I'm afraid if I do that, I might get carried away." He bit his bottom lip and my breath hitched. My pussy began to tingle in response to his suggestion. I wanted him. But of course, that was nothing new. I turned away from him, flustered. "What's wrong?"
