*****ABIGAIL'S POV*****

Four months had gone by since the incident with Charlie and I moved in with Noah. Things have been going really well all things considered. Noah and I attended his father's funeral and Noah finally got the closure he needed. And Charlie decided to put his half of the house on the market as well and move back to his hometown. Savannah decided that her calling was to stay a traveling nurse and help people all over the world. I miss her like crazy but we talk as often as possible.

As for Noah and I, we went to couples counseling for a while to work through everything that happened with Charlie and now our relationship is stronger than ever. The whole experience also helped me discover what I wanted to do with my life. I am now a legal aid for domestic violence victims. It doesn't pay as well as my previous job, but it is so much more rewarding. And Noah makes more than enough for the both of us.

"Hey, babe. I'm home." Noah sounded as he walked through our front door.

I bounded off the couch and walked right up to him. His arms wrapped around me and he nuzzled his nose into my hair.

"Hi, baby. Welcome home." My hands ran through his hair as I placed my lips on his.

My tongue snaked past his lips and toyed with his tongue. Then, my teeth bit gently onto his bottom lip and pulled it into my mouth.

"Fuck, baby. Don't do that to me or we're going to be late for dinner." He moaned against my mouth.

"Noah, I told you I don't need a fancy dinner tonight. All I want is you." I said gently as I placed a series of kisses trailing down his neck.

"Nope, it's our one-year anniversary and I want to celebrate. Now get your sexy ass dressed. I don't want to miss our reservation." He gently swatted my ass and I giggled.

"Alright, alright. I'm going."

I headed for our bedroom and picked out a very elegant floor-length purple dress with a glittery sweetheart neckline and halter spaghetti straps. I paired it with some black pumps and a black clutch. I did up my hair and make-up and headed to meet Noah in the living room. He, of course, was dressed in a suit. This suit was all black with a white button-up shirt and a black and white tie.

"Wow, baby. You look absolutely breathtaking." His eyes reflected that look that I've grown all too familiar with—the look of pure desire and undying love.

"So do you, my love," I replied as I walked up to him and draped my arms around his neck.

His hands grabbed a hold of my hips and pulled me into him. I leaned in and our lips met in a soft, tender kiss.

He pulled away, grabbed my hand, and we headed out the door to the restaurant. As we pulled up I couldn't help but stare in awe at where we were dining. It was the fanciest steak house I'd ever seen. Noah must have made reservations weeks ago to get a table here. No wonder he refused to miss dinner.

We walked into the restaurant and the atmosphere was amazing. The lighting was a soft, candlelight glow, and the sound of live piano filled the air. And the smell was to die for. I found that I was already salivating.

I was pulled back into reality by the host's soft tone, "Good evening. Do you have a reservation?"

"Yes. It's under Noah."

"Ah, yes, of course. Mr. James. Please, follow me to your table."

The host walked us to a private table in the back of the restaurant, completely sectioned off from the rest.

"You're private table, as requested, sir."

Noah thanked him and he scurried off. Noah grabbed the back of my chair and pulled it out for me. I sat down and he pushed me in before taking his seat across from me. The waiter was at our table immediately and Noah took the liberty of ordering their most expensive bottle of champagne and filet mignon steak dinners for the two of us.

"Wow, Noah. You're really going all out, aren't you?"

"Nothing but the absolute best for my girl."

"Oh, Noah. You know that I don't need all of this. I would be happy eating pizza on our couch in sweat pants. As long as I get to spend today with you, that's all that I care about."

"I know. Which is one of the many reasons why I love you."

The food came out shortly and Noah and I talked about our day as we savored the best steak I've ever had. After we finished our main course, Noah whispered something into the waiter's ear and he scurried off. I stared at him, puzzled.

"What was that about?"

"Our dessert selection."

It didn't take long for the waiter to come back with a plate above his head. I watched him as he walked over to the table and gently set the plate down in front of me. The moment that I saw the contents of the plate, my heart stopped. My eyes immediately shot to the empty chair in front of me. I hadn't even noticed that Noah had moved. He was now right beside me, on one knee, with a beautiful diamond ring in his hand.

I quickly glanced back at my plate, which had a small piece of strawberry cheesecake in the center and the words 'Will you marry me?' written in chocolate around the outside, before turning back to Noah.

"Oh my god, this is really happening." My eyes started to tear up and I used my hands to cover my gaping mouth.

"Abigail Hayes, ever since the moment I met you, I knew that you were special. You had this undeniable hold on me and I knew that it would be impossible to let you go. I fell in love with you not only because of how amazing you are but also because of how amazing I felt around you. I know that we have had our ups and downs but there has never been a doubt in my mind about how much I love you. And all of our struggles thus far have only proved that we can get through anything as long as we are together. I can't imagine spending my life without you. So, Abigail, will you marry me?"

I lowered my hand to him while gently nodding my head. Tears streaming down my place I answered,

"Yes."
