You walked back to your parent's house which was near here. You peeked through the window. Apparently, they have evacuated the area. You stepped quietly inside, not sure why, no one's here to catch you. You walked upstairs to what would be your room previously. The door creaked open, and you stopped breathing. They really have gotten rid of anything that could hint towards your presence. They repainted the walls, the room was replaced by a queen size bed instead of 2 single beds and a drum set you've never seen before. Tears rolled down your face. You weren't sure why.
You got out of your trance and sniffed back your tears. You wanted to get out here before they came back but you were too late. As soon as you got down the stairs, your parents came back with your little sister.
"Y/N?" Your father spoke first.
"I'm surprised you still remember my name."
"What are you doing here?" He put his arm in front of your sister. Something you've never experienced before.
"I was around the area. So I thought I'll pop in to take a look."
"There's nothing for you here, so get out!" Your mother finally spoke.
"I don't understand... What have I done wrong?" You stepped closer to them.
"Back off!"
"I've done everything I can to try to make you guys happy. I hardly go out with friends, I did house chores, I even cooked the food you guys ate. WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH? Try and find other kids who would do the same as me just to please you." You raised your voice causing your father to step back and grab his golf club to try and swing at you.
You dodged his attack and grabbed his neck to try and choke him.
"WHAT PART OF HER IS BETTER THAN ME?" Your mother tried to pull you away from him but you pushed her back. "The only time you would talk to me is when you think I did something wrong."
"Y/N! Enough!" You heard a familiar voice that was not from your family. You turned to look at Nat that was standing at the door.
You looked back at your dad who was still gasping for air. You stared down at him before releasing your grip. "Don't let me see you alone." You whispered into his ears. He held his throat and nodded.
---
"What were you doing?" Nat asked as the both of you made it back to the compound.
"Just notifying them that I am still alive." You looked at her defiantly.
Nat and you got into the meeting room last, Fury wanted to have a meeting after the whole attack.
"What happened to the comms? Who told you guys you could shut down JARVIS?"
You remained silent; this was not your part to say anything.
"And none of you bothered to check your phones for notifications? What is wrong with this team? I had to call the teenager for goodness's sake!"
The teenager was you; everyone turned their head towards you, and you looked around weirdly.
"You guys better give me a detailed report, or I'll ask you to do it again." With that, Fury stormed out of the meeting room.
The room was eerily silent, and you walked back to your room, leaving them behind.
There was nothing to do since school was over and you are left to be alone. You just couldn't sit still after the adrenaline rush. You were so close. You walked over to the dent and punched harder and harder. Imagining as if your father was right in front of you.
"Y/N! Stop!" Nat tried to restrain you by holding your arm back and you resorted to kicking the wall instead.
"Stop!" She tried to pull you back and you were flailing your arms and legs.
"Why did you stop me? I could have killed him there and then." You directed your anger towards Nat.
"Why are they living a life better than me? Why am I the only one who suffered?" You crashed to the floor and punching yourself, screaming.
Nat pulled your arms away and hugged you. You tired to get out of her grip but she held you tight. You give up and released all your bottled-up feelings and cried at her shoulders. Both of you sat on the floor until your cries turned into occasional hiccups.
You pulled away from her and wiped your face. Your breathing was still unsteady from all the crying and were still shaking.
"You don't have to care about them anymore. You are going to be here, with us, not them." Nat pushed the strain of hair behind your ears, showing your eyes.
"Come on, you have had a long day. Let's get you to bed." Nat lifted you and tucked you under the sheets.
You thought she was going to leave you there but you felt the bed dip beside you. Not even your mother has slept beside you before.
This warmth was something you never felt before.
