chapter 1: The encounter (part 1)

The small breezes pass by me as the cold slowly starts to creep in through my white cotton button up shirt as I walk by the sea. I don't know how long I have been here but long enough to see the sunset by the horizon. I look at my watch and see that it's past midnight now.

I was  a bit tired from walking so I sat on top of a rock by the sea.  The small waves crash onto the shore making a melodic and a relaxing sound.

I softly smiled as I couldn't help but wonder from where to where I have come to in life as I try to look past the horizon. I broke out of my thoughts when I felt a buzz in my jeans. I stood up and rubbed of any remaining sand from my bottom and fished out my phone from my pockets. 'Shit.... I should've gone back home by now' . I thought. Regardless I picked up the phone as I started making my way back to my Audi R8 Decennium. I took great pride in my car and treated it like my own baby. After all, I bought it with my own hard earned money. "Where the hell are you Octavia? Do you realize what time it is! Seriously Octavia, I thought you grew out of your nightly runaway stunts. What are you a vampire? Come back home right now  kid, its starting to cold out there. Do you have your scarf with you? it's not safe out there! Are you warm enough Octavia? Come back home this instant young lady otherwise- " "Calm down and give her a chance to speak will you". Anthony my savior, cut off Liam from his rant and saved me from going deaf. "Thanks Tony. I thought I was going to go deaf". Tony chuckled and said" alright alright .you better come back soon though, everyone's worried about where yo-" Before he could finish his sentence my phone was snatched from my hand by a thief running away. After staring at my phone snatcher's running figure for 3 seconds like an idiot, I started running after him.

"Hey thief!! someone stop that phone snatcher". of course to my dismay no one on the street stopped him and came to save the day like they do in the movies.  *sigh*. But hey,  my family didn't raise me to be a damsel in distress either. And thankfully, I trained a lot when I was young to protect myself. I guess Liam's morning torture/fitness routine was worth it. I gained closer to the phone snatcher and grabbed his collar then threw him onto the ground. He got up and was ready to attack me. Like I said before I'm no damsel in distress so, I round house kicked him in right on his temple and he fell unconscious on the ground like a sack of potato. "I told you to stop didn't I?". I put my hands on my knees and bended down and took deep breaths to steady my breathing. I haven't ran this much since Christmas, which was 6 months ago might I add.

I stood up straight and saw that a crowd had formed around me and the unconscious phone snatcher on the ground. 'no one came to help me catch this guy when I shouted for help yet they came to see what's going on. Tsk Tsk Tsk. what has the world come to' I thought. "Okay people! Nothing to see here. Just a girl trying to get her phone back". I said while waving my hands like a mad woman trying to shoo the away. And it worked. They started to back away and went on their own way while gossiping underneath their breath. "Nosy little shits". I said to my self. I bent down on my knees near the unconscious sack of potato and started to pat him down to find my phone. "Bingo". I said to my self as I took it out of his jacket. I sat there and thought about what Diana would tell me to do in situations like this. I thought about it for a moment and called the police and informed them of the situation. They told me to wait there with the phone snatcher till they reach here. so that's what I did. Of course I couldn't stay still and decided to tie my phone snatchers hands , foot and my mouth with pieces of clothes and plastic I found near the trash can. 'god knows where those have been' I thought.

As I sat there waiting for the police to arrive, I thought about how much trouble this would get me in. First, I left home without informing anyone of my whereabouts. Second I stayed out till midnight. And third... I don't even know which city I'm in..... . And most importantly I don't know where the fuck I parked my baby. I groaned out loud in annoyance and before I could groan and throw a tantrum I heard a whimper coming from the sack of potato. 'Took ya long enough'. I thought while looking at him. right at that moments I heard police siren coming closer. "What great timing" I muttered under my breath. *Sigh* what a day!

And ladies and gentleman, that's how I ended up from Texas to Florida's police station. I was nervous and shitless scared. I mean it's not like this is my first in a police station... and probably wouldn't be my last. But I was scared of my sister and brothers showing up and their reactions. My sister.... my god I almost forgot about her. Now don't get me wrong, I love and adore and look up to her from the bottom of my heart but when she is mad that's another story. When she's angry, her piercing gray eyes can make a full grown man piss in their pants from her gazes intensity.

Diana is very protective of us so that fact that I went out somewhere past midnight without telling anyone is enough to piss her off. And also the fact that I'm more than 19hrs ride away from where we live is enough to get me grounded for eternity.

"Excuse me, hello!". I broke out of my thought's as the police officer waved his hand in front of me. "Yeah". I replied while looking at the phone snatcher who's now fully conscious and sitting at another police desk being interrogated by another officer. "Could you tell me what happened in full detail now kid?" and that's what I did for 15 mins. "Alright then, since you're not 18 yet we're gonna have to call your legal guardian kid. Can we have your ID card and license card so it will be easier to locate where you car is".  Then the officer proceeded to ask me personal questions and I proceeded to answer them with confidence like Anthony taught me to in scenario's like this, it's not like I got anything to hide So I did what the officer said and waited while he went he went through another door with my cards. Not gonna lie but I was getting a bit peeved and uncomfortable as this was not a station or a town I was familiar with. I'm familiar with the process of getting arrested and taken down to the police station for illegal racing and they usually don't ask for my personal info like this officer did. But I'm not gonna show them the fact that I'm uncomfortable.

I put my head on the officers table and closed my eyes and pretended to fall asleep, even if I wanted to I don't think I can fall asleep with the yelling from the phone snatcher and the commotion going on inside the station.

Not long after the officer arrived and tapped on the table to 'wake me up'. But the thing is his body language and tone had completely changed. His hands were slightly trembling and beads of sweat seemed to have formed on his forehead. "Would you like anything to drink while you wait for your guardian to arrive ma'am?". 'ma'am? what happened to calling me kid?'. I thought while catching the slight tremble in voice. others may not have noticed it but I sure as hell did. I am fully aware of the fact that my family has a lot of power to make anyone tremble in their seats. But this is a bit too much I thought. most of the people show respect or are intimidated by my sister or brother. So this officer trembling in fear after talking to them is foreign to me. It can't be them, to have this officer behave like this, he couldn't have spoken to my sister or my family. Normally people would be afraid of these scenarios, but I am quite interested and at the same time dreaded to see where this was going.
