Jamie's POV:

I was awake again, for the third time this week. Percy wasn't back yet, so it was just me alone in our dorm. I looked over at the alarm clock on my bedside, reading 2am. I knew why I wasn't sleeping, there was only one person on my mind.

Lottie.

It was always Lottie, and will continue to be only Lottie. She was everything I couldn't be. We were everything we shouldn't be. A Partizan and a Portman, I scoffed. Like that could ever work. I lay back down and growled to myself, "You need to focus on Ellie now, more than ever." I couldn't get distracted by Lottie again.

I rolled over, and played back yesterday's events in my head. I was sat outside with Lottie by the fountain whilst Ellie napped, exhausted from the self-blame and guilt. I brought up how Ingrid wasn't my enemy, and Lottie started talking about how it's a relief that the Master of Leviathan is Claude. I mean, she wasn't wrong, we were all in denial the entire time. Suddenly I remember I stroked her hair, and she looked so lost, and she looked so afraid. I could understand exactly what she was thinking, she was worried. For Ellie, and for me. Lottie started to say something, but at that moment Professor Devine strolled out, and took us to her office, where there was a familiar face waiting for us.

Haru. He beamed at Lottie and I, however, Lottie looked off. She looked truly afraid and terrified in that moment, and for once, I was confused. She was obviously distressed, but I couldn't figure out why. It was only Haru, right?

I frowned. "You shouldn't be thinking about Lottie. Not everything revolves around her," a voice shouted in my head. I pushed it away. I needed to keep her safe this year. Something was coming, something dreadful was coming. We could all feel it. We'd be flying back to Maradova this weekend, to report the news to the King and Queen, and our discoveries whilst in Japan.

I turned over in my bed again, and stared at the ceiling, before closing my eyes and drifting back off to sleep.
