For weeks things have been going on the same way. Edison was still small. Cyan was still somewhat intentionally annoying. And Janie was still attracting Edison's eye. Until one day, close to the end of the school year, Cyan and Janie got an e-mail.
Dear Janie and Cyan,
We're coming back for a week to check up on how you two are doing. We also want to meet the little teacher at the house. We'll be there in five hours.
Drake J. & Cinn J.
"You're parents are coming?" Edison asked.
"Yup. And this was sent four and a half hours ago." Cyan muttered."They'll be here any minute."
"Yeah. Knowing them, I wouldn't be surprised if they snuck in using invisibility cloaks or somethin'." Janie shrugged. Just then, all three heard a voice.
"Damn... She knew." Two men appeared in front of Janie, Cyan, and Edison wearing white body cloaks. The first one gave a striking resemblance to Cyan except his hair was more of a cinnamon color. The second was a bit lighter than Janie and had his hair in a couple of braids."Hi, Janie."
"Hi Cinnamon." Janie smiled. Cinn narrowed his eyes at her.
"Don't call me Cinnamon." He muttered.
"It ain't my fault your parents thought you'd be a girl." At that moment, Edison starts laughing.
"So this is the kid who got struck by lightning..." Drake stared at Edison."How old are you?"
"Uh... thirty- four, sir." Edison replied.
"And you've turned into a five year old. That's quite a gap." Drake continued.
"I know, sir." Edison responded.
"Please don't call me sir. It makes me sound old." Drake said.
"Yes... Mr..." Edison dragged out. Drake held out a hand.
"I'm Drake." Drake introduced."Janie's father." Just then, Edison's face turned pale.
"H-hi, Mr. Drake." Edison stuttered. Cinn slapped Drake on his back.
"Chill, Drake! You're scaring the dude." Cinn said with a smile.
"He has nothing to be scared of." Drake retorted. Cyan shifted his weight onto the nearest wall and turned away from the two adults.
"Oh you have no idea..." Cyan murmured. Edison smiled a cheeky smile and grabbed Cyan's arm.
"I'd like to talk to my lovely student for a minute." Edison dragged Cyan into his room and slammed the door shut.
"Are you trying to get me killed?!" Edison yelled.
"Chill! I didn't say nothin." Cyan countered.
"Don't mention anything to Drake this week about me." Edison hissed, pulling Cyan down by his collar.
"Got it, Ghost-Meister!" Cyan replied. The two walked out of the room. Cyan looked around."Where's my father?"
"I don't know. He left somewhere." Drake replied.
O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O
By dinner time, Cinn was back. He sat next to Cyan. They were whispering about something.
"Hey... What are they whispering about?" Janie whispered to Edison.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Edison muttered.
By the end of the week, Drake and Cinn had to go back to work. Drake left to the car early. Just as Edison was ushering Cinn out of the house, Cinn knelt down to him.
"Don't worry. I won't tell Drake about your little crush, fella." And with that, Cinn was gone. Edison smiled for a couple of seconds, then grabbed a ruler. He went into Cyan's room.
"You traitor!" Edison exclaimed and started beating Cyan with the ruler.
"Ow. Ow! OW! Stop it!" Cyan yelled. Outside, Cinn looked up to see a little shadow beating a bigger shadow with a stick. He smirked.
"Yep... My son's growing to be just like me." Cinn muttered.
"Cinnamon buddy! Come on!" Drake said, beeping the horn. They got into their flying car (By the way, only flying car in the world) and flew away.
