        {[Alyssa]}

        I made my way down the hallway, leaving my cloak in my room; for it was too hot to wear something as thick as that piece of clothing. Making my way towards the front of the mansion, I ignored the stares from the servants- all appearing to be Shifters. I kept my head high, showing them I was not afraid of them, and Loui beside me did the same.

        Just when I was about to pull open the door, someone yanked my wrist and pulled me back to the hallway, away from the door. I spun around to see the Innocent Prince, staring at me with a determined look on his face. He backed me up against the wall, blocking my means of escape- not like that would prevent me from leaving if I wanted to.

        I stared at him evenly, waiting patiently.

        "Who the bloody hell are you?" he growled

        "Alyssa Bell." I said, smirking.

        "That's not what I mean. Who are you to my Father? Are you his mistress?"

        I just stared at him for a minute at the sheer idiocy of the boy. Can you blame me? Seriously, the gall of this man! "What kind of question is that?" I asked, outraged.

        "Just answer the question." he commanded, and then he looked at my stomach as if expecting to confess and admit I was with child.

        The very thought of that made me want to burst out laughing but kept my face a cool mask. "No. I am not his mistress."

        "Then why the hell are you here?" he asked again.

        "Because I'm supposed to protect you." I stated, simply.

        Then he broke out laughing, holding his stomach, trying not to fall over.

        I stared at him in pity. He thought this was all a joke, the poor lad. He knew nothing of our superior race that consisted of non humans. "Not everything is as it seems, Mr. Price." I whispered. I stepped around him and headed for the door again. He didn't stop me this time and seemed to have stopped laughing, only staring at me with confusion.

        Golden locks framed his face with firm jaw that seemed to tighten when he was unsure, and his eyes... oh, they sure were something. Moss green eyes stared at me, the color of the earth, healing, solitude.

        I came back to reality and he was still staring at me. "You'll make a fine Shifter." I muttered. Loui waited dutifully for me by the open door that wasn't open a moment before. I smiled at him and we both went out together into the sunlight.

        *Five minutes later*

        I never knew how out of touch with the world I was until I actually went out. Seeing how people didn't run around like they used to in my old town, they didn't seem like the lively type. That suited me fine anyway; they wouldn't pry -too much- and maybe I'd be able to interact with the mortals.

        Wistfully, I thought about talking to girls my own age, but then I grinned ruefully. The only women my age would be the ones being nursed, preparing to depart the world, or the ones already in their graves. Just because I looked young, didn't mean I actually was; though, I stopped aging around twenty-one.

        A man in a gray suit pushed past me in a hurry, nearly knocking me off my feet, and kept on going. He didn't even turn around to apologized. Fleetingly, I thought about making him trick with a spell but thought better of it; I wasn't a child anymore.
