Short Story #3: Pre-Calculus Sucks

"I CAN'T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS!" Marinette screamed as she looked at her Pre-Calculus book "WHY IS MATH SO HARD!" She had just started the year and was at the library studying in peace and tranquility since at home it was everything but that, her parents were always fighting, and they had agreed to divorce once Marinette went into college, and for that, there were only 12 months left, and life was getting harder by the second. 

"What do you need help with?" A calm voice asked

"Luka! You startled me, well I can't understand any of this," She said as she slammed her head on the table

"Let's see, Pre-calculus, ok this is simple, why don't I tutor you?" He said while he put his guitar away, and grabbed the book

"Simple for you, I mean you really smart! you got a scholarship to the best university in Paris," I said

"Thanks for the compliment, well the exercise here is Solve for x. 2x + 4 < 3x + 9, so the answer should be," He said, I started making some notes on my notebook and after some of Lukas corrections I said. 

"x>−5?" He nodded "Wait I understood! wow," I said, and before I could think I hugged Luka, who then hugged me back.

"See it isn't hard," He said while patting my head, I was brought back to reality, and realizing what I just did, pulled back and blushed in a bright red, oh did I forget to mention? Luka has been my crush since forever, I met him when we were 5 years old, well he was 7, and I met him through Juleka, his younger sister, who is in my class as well. we started coming closer, and by the time I was 13, I had developed a crush for him, honestly speaking, I think I always had feelings for him, I only then realized them, well I never told and I'm not planning to anytime soon, if I did that and he rejected me, I would die of embarrassment. I mean he's kind, funny, intelligent, plays guitar, always there for you, cute, and all the girls fall head over heels for him, so him noticing her sisters friend, who likes to design clothing, is a very slim chance, honestly, I think he sees me more like a little sister than a girlfriend. 

"What's the next problem?" he asked {A/N: Idk where this is going so just stay with me ;-;} 

"f(x)=x2−4x,g(x)=x+9f(x)=x2−4x,g(x)=x+9. Find (f+g)(x)(f+g)(x)." I said 

"You have to simplify at fir-" He was abruptly interrupted

"−72," I said, "And there we go! I finished my homework! Finally," I said as I sighed out of relief

"What about if we go to have a coffee? It seems like your overstressed," he said rubbing the back of his neck, I could feel my cheeks getting warmer, all the way to my ears lucky for me the lights at the library were dim and my bangs were covering much of my face. 

"Like o-on a d-d-date?" I whispered and prayed he didn't hear me

"More or less? If you want, later on, I could keep tutoring you! I mean you're really smart, you just need that last push," He said, I grabbed a big breath, and at once I,

"Iwouldlovetogoouttothatcoffeewithyoulukaalsoireallylikeyoubutimsureyouhavenofeelingstowrdsmeandijusthadtotellyouihopethisdoesntchangeourfriendsimsorry," I said taking a puff of air to catch my breath again, he at first looked shocked but then only smiled, and slowly got closer to me, until we could feel each other breaths, and his lips touched mine, and I didn't pull back, I just closed my eyes, and enjoyed a kiss that lasted only 2 moments, but felt like ages. we finally parted and my heart had beat a couple of beats. 

"So are you ready to go?" He asked

"Y-yes!" I quickly responded, while putting my books back into my backpack.

"Wait that's not how it happened," Luka said holding onto Christopher "I'm sure you were doing Physics homework,"

"No, I was doing pre-calculus, I swear," I said as holding my newborn baby, Emma "Who's a gwood, wittle baby?" I cooed 

"You Mari," Luka said with a smirk

"Shut up!" I said, my face warming up

"Make me," He kept smirking

"I would, but there are children," I said
