Abby's POV

I've been spending the past 4 weeks at Shady Lakes Summer Camp in Pennsylvania. It's nice as camps go. The lake is beautiful and we play the most creative games. It's like any other camp I've been to. I've made a few new friends during the time I've spent here. My red haired friend, Angie, and Lila, the girl with brown hair and blue eyes.

My name is Abby. I have blond, golden hair that falls at my shoulders and hazel eyes that sparkle in the sun.

My life is pretty normal. Okay maybe not. There have been a few things that I don't understand. Like the strange dreams I keep having where a boy with blue eyes is warning me about something terrible coming.

The event that makes me question my sanity most is when me and my friend Alli were walking home from school. It was a perfectly normal day. School had let out and me and Alli were walking home. As we passed my neighbor's house, a purple bird that I've never seen before spoke to me.

"Watch out!"

"Watch out for what?"

Alli looked at me as if I was weird. I'm beginning to think she is right. That night our whole backyard was a mess, our trashcans strewn out and the grass torn up.

But that's nothing compared to what happened to my hamster.

I was stroking his soft fur and I started to sing one of my favorite songs. He didn't seem to like my voice because he started twitching and taking his ears in his paws. I wasn't watching him as my eyes were closed as I was singing, but next thing I know my hamster was gone. Nothing left but bits of fur. I had no idea what happened, but I've been too afraid to sing anything since.

In the mean time, it's way past curfew, so I try to fall asleep. We have to be at the mess hall by 7:15. Personally, I think it's ridiculously early, but we don't argue since we would rather eat breakfast than go hungry. After what seems like hours, I finally manage to drift into a deep sleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was in the middle of a dream when something tapped my arm. There was a boy with blue eyes who was tapping my arm and telling me to run. He looked familiar, but my brain didn't register who he was.
"Run, run! Get away from here, they are going to get you!"
The boy kept telling me to run away from something, but I couldn't tell what.
My legs felt like jelly and everything was in a blur. All the sudden a poke even more realistic than the last awoke me from my sleep.
I opened my eyes slightly to see a figure standing over my bed.
"Rachel, go to bed....", I mumbled, still half asleep. I hear silence so I close my eyes again.
She's always waking me up for no reason at all and it really makes me mad. She taps me again and this time I shout a little more forcefully.
" Do you not understand the concept of sleep?!"
I hear a resounding growl come from the figure. My heart jumps and my eyes flutter open.
That did not sound like Rachel.
My eyes scrape over a rather hideous creature. It looks like what would happen if a wolf and bat got together and had children. It's furry body had bat wings tapering from it's back and sharp spines stuck out from it's spine and tail. It's wolfish features grinnedk toothily as if it knew it had found prey.
It moved closer and bared it's glistening teeth ferociously. That most likely makes me the prey. Oh joy.
I close my eyes in an attempt to wish it away, but when I open them it only moved closer. Why can't my life be normal? If only this was all a dream.
I scream at the top of my lungs for help. Maybe, by some possible stroke of luck someone would save me.
It growls again in response to my call for help. It is about 3 feet away from my bedside. my mind races for some idea that would help me escape, but I come up with nothing.
So this is how I will die. By being eaten by a wolf bat thing. I don't even know what it is.. Where do these things even come from? To be honest it looks like it came from my greek mythology 101 textbook. I thought creatures like that didn't exist? Another growl dissolves that theory.
I hear footsteps outside of the cabin and gasp. Perhaps someone has heard my scream after all and has come to save me.
The wolf-bat's ears swivel to the sound and its attention turns to the cabin door opening. All of the sudden a blinding light comes from the cabin door. My eyes cringe at such blinding light and I close them immediately. Am I dead? I heard a loud hiss and tried to open my eyes. In a few seconds I see a silhouetted figure at the door. It looks like a boy with wings...what are they called...?
An angel....Yeah...I am definitely dead.
