I open the front door to my house. I can hear my father and mother yelling at each other. They pause when they see me. "Honey, what happened to you?" My mother asks. "Never mind what happened to her." Father says. "Why are you home so late?" "Emilio and Tomas were suppose to tell you I was going to be late." "Oh honey, was it-" Mother starts. "Go up stairs and get yourself cleaned up." Father demands. I march upstairs and get in the bath tub. I wash away all the mud. I hear my parents yell about money, jobs, and food. Mom is saying that my father should get another job. Father says mom should get a job herself. Tomas, Emilio, Sofia and I all have jobs. We work at a local farmers market. We don't receive much money, but what we do get goes toward the family. Thiago, Daniel, Rosa, and Maria are in middle school, but are to young to have jobs. The yelling gets louder and is harder to drown out. That's when I decide I'll just have to drown myself.
