~Prologue~
Moonheal
Moonheal had always, always been the little one — the quiet one who predicted everything and gave the future the little tugs and pushes whenever it was required, to fabrique a neat, clean ending. She barely ever spoke, and kept her thoughts to herself. Her large blue eyes seemed to tell everyone everything, but not in a way like exposing her secrets. It was more like a way as if she were speaking like a teacher who knew everything, who was silently revealing an answer to a long-muddled question, at the very end of everything, so that it was suddenly very clear to the student what had happened — all the little twists and turns and everything else. She was very smart and lovable, and small — but also very powerful on the inside, and her sisters knew that very clearly. She was almost as powerful as Eve. She knew how everything would unfold, page by page, and made sure no one skipped a single line. She wasn't mysterious, just soft and nice to be around — a small comforting cushion that would step in wisely whenever you faced a very bad problem, and quickly solved it neatly together. Moonheal didn't understand why everyone wasn't as calm and as still as her. When you were calm, she believed, everything would be calm, for you to understand. When you put down the mask in front of you, you would see everything as clearly as ever. It wasn't exactly a sort of philosophy, just nature that made it that way. Her favorite instrument was the flute, a light, cheerful tune, and she would often sit by a waterfall while she played it — far away from the wars and arguments, just as plain and simple and happy as she was.
"Are you sure that's what she wanted me to do?" Moonheal sighed as she tapped the table with her quill, leaving streaks of ink on the crescent wood. Evera shrugged from the seat across. "You can ask her herself. I'm sure, though, that she didn't mean anything harmful. Think about it. If we conquered the Seven Seas, we would know more about the underwater world beyond here! We would be able to study more about all the species of fish and coral and kelp. Besides, then we would be able to control more than half of the planet, all the waters. Wouldn't that be nice?" Moonheal was more than annoyed about this speech Evera and Eve kept repeating over and over. She knew that their minds were already set on it, and they just needed the final straw - her permission and help. She knew that, if she submitted to their plan, she would be the one doing all the work. They would depend on her and she would have to continue no matter what she was facing. Evera didn't want to touch the water, but she did want more territory. She probably didn't get the part that if she didn't rule over the sea it wouldn't be her territory. Eve was more ambitious than Evera on this topic. Everyday she'd come and urge Moonheal in every way about a thousand times. Moonheal was getting a headache. She couldn't believe she was about to give in. It had been only a few months since Obsidian's defeat, and they had yet managed to settle themselves in, not to mention recovering the kingdom from war. But she did want to discover more knowledge about the underwater universe. Even so, there were more ways she could do that. They didn't necessarily need to take over the sea if they wanted to study it. Well. Of course that wasn't Evera's plan. She wasn't going to study it. Moonheal sighed. Whether with her help or not, she knew, her sisters' minds were set on it. And with her help maybe the war would end sooner. Maybe Moonheal could prevent Eve drowning, or Evera from getting eaten by a giant shark underwater where they would be defenseless. She took a deep breath. "Fine. I'll do as you plan if you give me the permission to let me conquer it in my own way. I don't want any of you getting in the way of my plans." It sounded a little mean, but Evera got along. "Great! So, tomorrow, you -" "I told you before," Moon reminded her, "I have a plan. Relax, alright? I know when I should prepare." Evera blinked. "But we've got everything prepared for you already -" "NO!" Moonheal yelled. She was so tired of her sisters yelling at each other in front of her. "No, what?" Evera asked, confused. "I don't want your plans." Moonheal tapped the map laid out in front of them. "If it's up to me to fix this, I think I'm allowed to use my own mind, right?" Evera nodded a little unconsciously from across the room. "Alright," she replied, a little gruffly. Moonheal sighed as her sister left her chamber. They were always like this, these days — it was as if she were spinning a wheel, over and over again without stopping. The clouds suddenly parted in the sky, leaving just enough clear space in the air for a streak of sunlight to filter through. Moonheal opened the window and caught a small white feather as it drifted towards the ground. It was small, light and delicate in the center of her palm, like a ray of sunlight between her fingertips.
