On Sept. 11, Marla had a phone call from Phyllis Tingelhoff, Mick's wife said that he passed away. Marla then called her best friend Maverine about Mick, and she heads to the Minneapolis airport and then to Lakeville to visit Maverine.

Marla first met Mick when she was 12 years old in 1970. In 1978, Mick and Marla had a movie for the only time called "Pure Heart." He also retired that same year.

In 1985, Mick and Marla paired at the Minnesota show singing two songs, one of them "Wonderful Time Up There" is with Bill Brown and Marla's other friends.

30 years later, he was in the hall of fame, Marla attends as well. In March of this year, the last time Marla saw Mick was at his Lakeville home hearing the music video of Maverine's "Losing You All Over Again." Marla's house is out of power during the winter storm. She last called him on the phone was the day after his birthday while she's at Austin for the race.
