"Ahah.."
Cross sat in his room. The familiar mocking voice of Killer echoed in front of him, out of sight since he stared down at the floor. He ignored the other figure, instead, he tried to reach Chara again. He hated to think that he actually missed the humans constant pestering; now it was just a thought, a voice he couldn't remember.
"You know, hiding in here isn't going to protect you from anything. It's just a matter of time that you'll slip up again, it'll be hilarious." Killer mocked.Cross was used to Killers pestering. For some reason, it was always him he wanted to annoy the most, perhaps it was because Cross tried not to react.
"Worried I'll replace you?" Cross asked, finally facing Killer eye to eye. Killer bursted out laughing.
"That'll be the day," Killer chuckled. "Good luck."
And then Killer left.~{}~
Cross slowly opened his eyes. His body still ached from the day Killer left with Dream, having been the only target left for Nightmare. How long had he been out? He tried to sit up, a headache shot through his skull. He raised his hand and felt the crack in it, swearing under his breath before looking around. Surrounding him was an empty void with nothing but darkness for miles.
"Cross." Nightmare's voice was clear as day, yet Cross couldn't see him.
"..How long was I-" Cross stopped when the headache grew unbearable.
"That isn't important, is it?" Nightmare said.
Cross looked around again as if he expected something to change, perhaps Nightmare would be there; it was still empty as it was the first time."What now?" Cross grumbled after a second thought, rising to his feet. The headache vanished.
"Those naive fools don't stand a chance against the both of us... my brother is too weak, Ink is just a shell that doesn't care for anyone, and Killer.." Nightmare's voice shifted mentioning Killer's name. "..he's disposable."Cross didn't respond. Killer had left him here, he was a traitor. Yet, Cross felt more empty than he had when Chara went quiet. He had thought of Killer as a friend and he hated it. With a deep growl, he swept the thought from his mind.
"Whatever you say, boss. What's the plan?" Cross asked.
"They don't trust each other.. perhaps we can use that to our advantage.."~{}~
"It's empty." Ink's voice echoed through the house.
All that was left was broke furniture, Nightmare's doing. Killer wasn't surprised, but he was disappointed. Nightmare might act like it sometimes, but he wasn't stupid. Killer knew where the base was so of course he'd leave it behind.
"Well, it was worth a try." Dream said reassuringly. "It makes sense he isn't here.""We can't just stand around and wait for Nightmare's next move." Ink stated, turning to Killer. "Be useful, any ideas?"
"I don't know," Killer mumbled.
"Wow," Ink said. "Thanks a lot, with ideas like that, Nightmare isn't a threat at all."
"Ink!" Dream said instantly. "Don't get mad at him, we need to focus on the problem at hand!"Ink gave Dream a cold stare. Killer almost thought he saw Dream flinch.
"You can't just forget everything he's done, Dream. I thought you already learned that lesson with Nightmare." Ink said. Dreams expression shifted.
"Stop that," Killer growled, standing in front of Dream. "You have no right to say anything as much as I do."Ink looked at Killer. Killer felt the unease that Dream had.
"If it doesn't matter, than how about I say this." Ink stepped forward. "I want to kill you, in fact, if you don't make yourself useful soon, maybe I will."
Killer stood his ground, his hand in his pocket holding on to his knife. When Ink noticed it, he stood straight."Dream is correct, let's focus on Nightmare now." Ink stated. Killer kept his hand on his knife.
Killer starts to feel a calming aura as Dream approaches him, giving him a nod as a thank you. Killer didn't respond.
"Well, if you have no ideas of where he could be, and Dream hasn't sensed him already, he must be somewhere that can block his aura.""How does he always hide from you? I thought you were aware of everything that happens in the Multiverse." Killer noted, watching Ink start to pace back and forth.
"Nightmare and Dream are different, they're also guardians. If he doesn't want to be seen, he can create a hidden space for himself." Ink responded. "Believe me, if I knew where he was, we'd be fighting him right now."Despite his doubt, Killer chose to believe him. He knew what he said was true, in fact he saw it with his own eyes, the person Nightmare use to be. But now he was just a scared spirit; whatever happened that day, that made him the monster he was now, shattered anything of the guardian that once protected instead of destroyed. It wasn't important, though. Killer never knew that Nightmare other than a small glimpse.
"Well, perhaps I could try and sense him and Cross." Dream suggested, causing the two to pause and turn to him.
"You couldn't do that before, so why would you be able to now?" Ink asked.
"Well, Cross gained an aura similar to Nightmare's so I've been considering the fact that it might cause the place they're hiding to be unstable." Dream mumbled. "I never got a chance to try since.." He eyed Killer."You were too focused on him." Ink growled.
"What- no, that's not-" Dream didn't finish, backing up when Ink approached him. "Ink, listen to me, there was too much for me to handle! I couldn't pinpoint it until-"
"Just shut it Dream, alright?" Ink said, placing a hand on his head. "I believe you because you're too positive to lie."Ink dropped his hand onto Dreams shoulder. A quick silence filled the room. Killer was ready to slice Ink's skull in half.
"Find them," Ink ordered. "I've had enough of this little team up already."
