The day after the movie fail, I tried to think of ways to cheer Viona up. I had no idea of what to do. Should I give her something? What thing?
I was lost in thoughts and I decided to browse through Viona's Facebook. When looking at her face, I suddenly had a brilliant idea. I grabbed a piece of clean paper and my pencil. With my minimum level of drawing skill, I tried to sketch her close up photo in which she was smiling brightly. Of course, I failed several times but finally, I could draw one perfect sketch of her.
I texted her and sent her the picture of my sketch.
"Yo, how are you doing? Here's something that I made. I hope you like it."
"... you draw this by yourself? That's... really awesome. I never knew that you can draw." she replied. Luckily her respond was positive.
"Yeah, that's just one of my many hidden talents. Actually, there's a reason why I send you this."
"Is that so? Why?"
"I just want you to see... That you look prettier if you smile." That was my boldest move that I'd ever done in my entire life as human.
"Lol, that's really sweet of you. You must be really scared last night, huh? As if I was about to eat you up or something."
And the chat went on and on. I was glad that I could cheer her up. After that, I decided to sketch more and more of her pictures. I sent her the sketches once a week and she was happy to see them.
Days passed and we kept on chatting. It was quite difficult to talk to her directly during practices because there were Andre around and Viona seemed to talk more with the other girls. Andre knew that I had a feeling for Viona as well but his reaction was not as horrible as I thought it would be. It was as if, we were rivals and we respected each other. He did better though, since he was quite the talkative one. At least in virtual world, I was close to her. That was what mattered to me at that time.
It was the sixth sketch that I sent to Viona and I decided to try asking her out again.
"That is the photo of you in your 17th birthday party."
"Wow, I didn't know I looked like this back then. It's quite... cool, I guess? LOL"
"That's just how I see it as well. Anyway, do you have any plan this Saturday?"
"Saturday, that's my grandma's birthday. We are going to have a family party."
"Oh that's nice. How about Sunday?"
"Well, I'll have to study for my mid test which is coming soon after that. I think I'll skip practice for that day as well."
And my plan failed. It was fine, she was quite the busy person anyway. I would probably had a better chance next time. I offered my help for the test preparation but she rejected it, saying that it should be okay for her to do it herself. At least she was confident and I was fine about it.
Days and days passed. Sharon had an important gig but it required only four dancers. She decided to include Anton, Viona, herself and me since I was quite tall and I had ever danced with Viona as a couple back during the Halloween party. This time, the dance was more of a ballroom dance style rather than the modern hip hop that we were used to. We practiced the choreography for only 5 days and performed directly.
During the performance, there was this one part where we were waiting while holding hands and facing each other. I whispered to her.
"Hey, in dance like this, you should look at me in the eyes" I teased her.
"Pfft... Shut up" She smiled widely. Fortunately she didn't burst in laughter or the whole feel of the movement would be gone.
We successfully pulled it off and the audiences were quite satisfied with it. That night, for me, was the best moment in my life as I hold her hands and danced in such a romantic song. It felt like the world belong to just the both of us, or at least that was what I felt.
